I made something similar once with a bunch of root vegetables like parsnips, turnips and carrots in addition to potato and onion. I can recommend experimenting with using/adding other root veggies, as well as just adding whole cloves of garlic.
What you're describing sounds like my roast, except trade cabbage for parsnips and, of course, add the roast.

I've never eaten a parsnip before, but the description of what they taste like seems like something I would like. My main grocery store doesn't carry them, but a couple other places I shop probably do. But since Americans don't regularly eat parsnips, I worry that they wouldn't be very fresh.

I was searching for historical low sales on Steam and found this hot pile of... The price is at 90% but take a look at the original price :ROFLMAO: Break everything, yeah, probably your computer also while you are at it.

Or this collection for 99%, original price *drumroll*

Can the number really be this high?

"approximately 600 million birds die in building collisions in the US each year"

I found the study that number (probably) comes from and it seems fairly accurate as far as I can judge it:

Note by the way that collisions are only the second leading cause of bird death. Cats are responsible for an estimated 2.4 billion bird deaths each year in the USA.

Probably true. I have at least one bird a year that slams into the window next to me and scares the crap out of me.

******

I have officially tried parsnips. They taste like cheap men's cologne, so I probably won't eat anymore of them.

So I guess having a frying pan (or a cooling bag for hoarding) close to one of those buildings would be quite profitable😅
Maybe it's just me, but walking around collecting starlings that have died in high speed collisions doesn't really do anything for my appetite.

Now if a chicken falls out of the sky, I could go for that. Or a cow. Little known fact: the exact same number of cows and chickens die each year from flying into buildings. Spooky, isn't it?

I was reared on parsnips, which we grew. Now you know why I'm cheap and smell bad.

Of the stuff we grew, I kinda liked 'em—preferable to turnips and onions, but not to carrots or spuds or peas.
Remembered working with our plants when I was young. We didn't have a farm, just a 1/3 acre garden, but we managed to grow a ton of food in that small area. No parsnips, though.

They have a unique flavor. I can imagine liking them if I had grown up eating them.

You know, this kind of makes all the arguments against windmills because they kill too many birds seem a little ridiculous.

Definitely. The number of birds that die from windmills might seem like a lot, until you put it in context with other causes of bird deaths like this. It's always good to double check statistics if they're used to argue for or against something.

Edit: Seems that Adguard is not working properly, but @ZedClampet recommended Ubock Origin and so far that seems to be working perfectly in blocking the "you are using adblocker" message. The Youtube Enhancer seems all right though, at least for more control over how you use the platform.

Sick of seeing the "you are using adblocker" message on YouTube after the latest update from the company? Well, then this is for you [You can also whitelist channels if there are some you want to help with ads]:

Thanks @ZedClampet. That one works:)
I should have added that there are two "fake" Ublocks out there. They mostly work, but have struggled with YouTube in the last two weeks. You probably installed the real Ublock, but if you have any trouble, install by following links from here. If what you are using works, I wouldn't mess with it. The "fake" versions are just branches of the original, which is open-source. It's even possible that they could, theoretically, be better than the original just depending on their development.

It's worthwhile noting that Ublock makes your computer much more secure by automatically stopping websites from running malicious code that could install malware and other things you don't want. It's not 100 percent perfect, so never let your guard down, but using it provides protection well above and beyond what using normal virus protection without it gives you. Ublock also blocks most kinds of traffic tracking, so it adds a layer of anonymity to your web browsing.

The real Ublock allows you to whitelist websites and also offers various levels of protection. The highest level, however, can stop some websites from running things you may want them to run, but it's easy to switch back and forth from different protection levels.

Finally, if you are using Chrome, it's going to be hard to trick YouTube forever when you are using Ublock on their own browser. If it stops working there, then I'll just switch to a different browser. I don't believe they can detect it if you are using a different browser since it naturally blocks the detection scripts. Google has also experimented with allowing websites to see what extensions you have running, but so far Ublock has blocked that as well. The battle continues...

I've used Ublock Origin for ~5 years, it was the best back then and is still one of the very best at the moment.

Specifically for YT, SponsorBlock works well for me.

it's going to be hard to trick YouTube forever when you are using Ublock on their own browser

I don't have any evidence, but very much agree with this. I've never used Chrome—I prefer to get my software from a software company rather than an advertising company—but it's surely questions of 'how much' and 'when', rather than 'if' they'll hoover your info and slip ads in your content stream.

MS may be starting to get pushy with ads too on Edge, will have to see how that goes—I may have to consign it to 'browser which opens sites others can't' task, which is what I originally mainly used it for.

Ubock Origin also stopped after some time, but it seems it helped to clear all of the cache. It could be just a matter of time though, since YouTube is really trying hard to combat the blockers. It's their platform, but it is a greedy, wrong move, especially since they already have several ways to get money from us and the people who post their videos on YouTube. Unity, Twitch & Facebook should be good examples of what happens when you cross that greedy line and start losing consumers or having companies looking at the competition.

If YouTube truly wants to continue making it harder and harder to use the adblockers, then I'll just pack my bags and go to another platform. It is that easy really and it was the same thing I did when the majority of TV channels started to show more and more commercials. Now I use the one TV channel that is paid for by the taxpayers and if I want to watch movies, I either rent it from the public library or I'll spend money on Amazon Prime when I feel the content is good for me both movie and gaming-wise.

This guy brings up some good points even if I don't agree with him completely. I still believe there is a limit as to how much a platform can push limitations on its consumers, without it getting a backlash. I'm sure he is right about YouTube as a company being fine with throwing out people like me who use an adblocker, but that also says something about the company does it not? Instead of meeting somewhere in the middle, they are risking the integrity of their own company just for greed.

I like that you backed up your arguments with a YT video

Maybe they're getting blowback for shoveling billons into YT all these years—if I was an Alphabet shareholder, I'd be asking Qs about it. Risking the integrity of their own company just for altruism, you might say ;)
