Brightness control

My old eyes need a level that is too bright for average gamers, but the latest Windows build to install will not get bright enough. Oddly, last build worked and could make it too bright.
This version is demanding to be installed: Windows 10 Pro, version 20H2, build 19042.867 and the one it replaces was okay
My programming skills are functionally useless, but I did learn Algol 60 revised in school
What to do?
I'm still playing Quake 3 for motor skills.

I would start exploring the monitor's controls and menus.

The Nvidia control panel will brighten the game quite a bit as compared with the default setting. I'll have to install the 20H2 package, but that approach may be useful. The monitor itself was almost maxed out as it was.
