Best multiplayer Flight game

Hello All,

I was thinking about what to give my retired dad for Christmas. Then I got a all nostalgic thinking about playing "Wings over the Pacific" back in the late 90's/00's over intranet and going head to head against my dad. Are there any current or retro games based in WW1/WW2 that have an online VS option where I could create a room and battle my dad 1 on 1? Specs would have to be modest as my dad has nothing fancy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I remember IL-2 Sturmovik being the recommended game in the past. I never played it but it was described as Microsoft Flight Sim meets WW2 dogfights.
