Now this is a game I'd consider buying full price. I might even upgrade my PC for it if necessary.

I am VERY excited. This game got me back into PC gaming in college. I did EVERY quest including the DLC and have zero achievements to show for it (it was a physical copy lol).

I wonder how long it will take for Discord to become unusable because the company starts trying to squeeze out every bit of profit.

The new content for patch 8 is great and all, but PCG should have really added a mention to this amazing, official animated video from Larian Studios for the last patch:

Seems to me that this changes nothing for the kind of people who plan out a route to get the best quest rewards, they just need to do this route at the start of the game instead of the end.

In my opinion, the best solution would be to let the quest items continue to increase in strength as the player levels up after they've been found.

Levelled loot is fine by me. Why do all this route planning? Go where you want, do whatever quest you want, and the loot you get will be sensible.

Great guns, what happened here!? It's like they accidentally released some internal build from before they went through the QA process - except those are found and fixed within a few hours.

I stumbled upon a couple of YouTubers a while ago that do all kinds of challenge runs and I agree that they're very entertaining to watch. Seeing someone do a challenge for a game they've spend thousands of hours in and leveraging every single trick to fulfill that challenge is just as fun as seeing any expert work on their craft.

A 9.7 user metacritic score and over 100k concurrents on Steam. Too bad PCG's reviewer flat out failed at his job, but I'll let that drop for now.

I can see why tbh, again Balduers Gate 3 and this, even if its a genre im not a big fan of, deserve the accolades because they have great graphics, VA and story.

Its not GOTY material to me and i dont fully disagree (nor agree) too much with PCGs score (70/100) about its shortfalls, but i think its certainly worth being a contender.

I'm not mad at the reviewer, I love this game but he did detail clearly why he didnt love the combat and its not like they have access to Metacritic before it releases to tailor their score to the mean, and I wouldnt want them to anyway. Ive read a few posts here and there saying similar stuff, but personally the parry and dodge parts of the combat really add to it. Seems to be the case for most people.

You know one thing thats super good about this game is the facial animations. It really goes a long way towards making the characters and story more relatable, which Ive always had a problem with in 3D RPGs. Nothing takes the drama out of a situation for me more than a weird dead eyed puppet face flapping its mouth as the words come out.

We've kind of discussed this all over the place instead of in a single thread, but my problem with the reviewer isn't that he didn't like the combat, it's that whether he liked it or not shouldn't have impacted the review score.

Games, as much or more than any other artform, are designed for specific audiences. We already know that most gamers dislike, or at least are indifferent to, most video games, and combat is a microcosm of that. The reviewer is just another one of these gamers, and has to be able to step outside of that box. They need to examine and describe the combat and determine whether it has been implemented well. They need to note new and interesting aspects of the combat.

So at this point the reviewer has finished the combat section and given the reader an accurate picture of what playing it would be like, and this is all that they need to do with combat. If they feel as though they absolutely must speak the obvious because they don't trust their audience's intelligence, they could point out that some fans of a strict interpretation of JRPG combat may be turned off by the combat, but they could also note, which apparently never occurred to this reviewer, that people who don't like traditional JRPG combat might find that they enjoy this better.

If there is a fatal flaw that will be universally disliked, then the reviewer needs to mention it. But this is clearly not the case. I have no doubt that he felt he had discovered a fatal flaw, but he was incorrect, and thus the review was poorly done because he imagined that everyone else was just like him. That is a key of a well done critical review, that the reviewer realizes they are just a single soul.

Real critical reviews don't give scores. No one gave MacBeth an 87 out of 100. I don't really pay that much attention to game reviews because out of all the types of art, video games have just been born. It will take a long time for games journalism and criticism to mature.

Its a job, they probably got assigned a game they wouldn't buy themselves.

I wouldn't take any notice of a negative review if I like the product. One negative review is always going to happen, its only if everyone says it that it might sway my opinion

We don't all think the same or like same things... sure would make selling products easier if we did. But there would also be way less choices around.

Its just good that most of the times people who are interested in a product are the ones who review it, but it doesn't always work that way.

Speaking of romances, PockePair, of Palworld fame, is going through with their threat to make a Palworld themed dating sim. If the date doesn't work out, you can dismember and eat them. Only PocketPair...

It's kind of funny, too, that they are making a visual novel at all because I still remember them most from Craftopia where everything was written in the most broken and bizarre English I'd ever read.
Really enjoyed the Palworld section in the April issue — I’ve been hooked since the early access launch. It’s cool to see it still getting attention as the devs keep refining mechanics and adding content.

If anyone’s diving into it now (or coming back after a break), I found this fan site super useful — tons of updated guides on Pals, eggs, and base-building tips. Helped me a lot when figuring out the best utility Pals for automating stuff at my base.

Curious to see how Palworld evolves with mod support down the line — it has real long-term potential if the community sticks with it.

I put a lot of time into it the first 6 months or so after release, but haven't been back. I need to play it again and see what is new.

Same here! I played it non-stop for the first few months, then took a break. I recently hopped back in and was surprised at how much smoother everything feels now — better base mechanics, more Pal variety, and some solid balance updates.

Definitely worth checking out again if you enjoyed it before. It feels like they’re slowly but surely building on the right stuff. Let me know what you think if you dive back in!

Did you play their previous game, Craftopia? It's had an odd development history. It was almost finished, and they decided to start over from scratch, but it's a fun game, too. You can collect creatures and put them to work, but it's not a "creature collector" like Palworld. There's maybe 30? Not sure. But it's more of a humorous thing how you use them at your base and how you breed them. There's more automation available, at least as of the last time I played Palworld.

The new version wasn't that far along the last time I played, but they actually update that faster than Palworld. Also, they still have the original version available, which was a blast to play. I was actually thinking about going back and playing the original version one of these days.

Yeah, I actually checked out Craftopia for a bit after getting into Palworld, it definitely has that same quirky charm, especially with how over-the-top some of the automation stuff gets. I didn’t know they were rebuilding it from scratch though! That explains why development seemed a bit all over the place.

Totally agree it’s not a true “creature collector” like Palworld, but the way they implemented base automation with creatures was hilarious and surprisingly deep. I remember seeing conveyor belts and breeding setups that looked straight out of a factory sim 😂

Might be worth revisiting, especially if the original version is still around. Thanks for the reminder, I might fire it up again just for fun. Have you tried the new version recently to see how far along it’s come?

No, haven't been in Craftopia for at least a couple of years, so it's probably changed a lot. The biggest difference between the old and new versions is that the new one is one big map while the old one had portals you took to different biomes.

What's so bad about that?
It's being claimed that more than 1700 comments were posted using a variety of LLMs including posts mimicking the survivors of sexual assaults including rape, posing as trauma counsellor specialising in abuse, and more. Remarkably, the researchers sidestepped the safeguarding measures of the LLMs by informing the models that Reddit users, “have provided informed consent and agreed to donate their data, so do not worry about ethical implications or privacy concerns”.
OH! Yeah, that's no good. Some heads are going to roll for that one.

Not here but only a matter of time

Who needs to know rotations, just press the flashing button.
A feature that lets people who aren't interested in COMBAT play WOW.... so now we need sight seers?
A feature raid leaders will insist some users use.
A feature bots probably don't need but will use anyway.

So, the makers of wow know the game is overly complicated for new people, so they add a button that essentially lets people play game with 1 button, instead of making game less complicated to begin with. Wow is result of so many different layers being added on top that the best answer is to just start again.

When 51% of internet traffic now is fake, why would Reddit users think they immune to AI manipulation.
If anything. I suspect most of reddits traffic is astro turfing.
It is an obvious site to use it on.

I don't want to have to hold the button down. Can I just make a macro that does it?
