Thank god for that. plus on slightly off gaming news, the wile-e-coyote vs Acme movie may actually be still on. ketchup entertainment may have secured the movie and saving it from destruction.

So this is interesting and has mad me realize I didn't do my due diligence. I've been following this lawsuit a little bit over the years, but only from Jobsts perspective and now I realize, I've been mislead. Billy Mitchell still seems like an incredible turd, but Jobst never let on he was being sued for saying what he said. He consistently construed it in his videos that Mitchell was sueing him for claiming he cheated.

At any rate, it sounds like this is probably a fair result and based on Jobsts comments toward the end of the article, seems like he's not willing to accept any wrongdoing on his part.

yeah i was paying attention to the case as well. does that mean that we CAN call billy mitchell a massive gaming ****, a cheater and justified of being stripped of his gaming records? Or will he go after those people as well? All things considered it was a fair decision by the judge and its rather odd that so little of the case was against accusations/claims that billy mitchell cheated and instead misclaims of reporting. Honestly, i never saw the video so i wonder how many people saw it. Would have apologizing to billy in a video for erroneous reporting have smoothed things over better?

When you are a child and the world hasn't beat you down, you identify with the roadrunner. When you are an adult and have experienced how life actually goes, you identify with the coyote.

I'm almost 60, and I think if the coyote ever caught the roadrunner I might find myself sitting quietly with tears streaming down my cheeks that would be hard to explain to anyone else.

For one, its all fun and games, for the other its life or death; a fight for survival.

I'm just glad that a movie that was finished and apparently very good isn't just put to the torch by a greedy, inept, soulless company as a tax break. heres hoping that it gets the accolades it deserves, makes lots of money and WB can do nothing but sulk and wonder where it went wrong for them.

Based on the quotes in the article, it certainly seems like Jobst invited it. Sounds like he did take the original video down, but invited the lawsuit otherwise and was generally unrepentant, so I dunno. No clue if it would have saved him or not, but I certainly wouldn't be so flippant in the face of a lawsuit.

Much as i want hollow knight 2 (after playing the first one i was itching for the sequel) i doubt its coming out in 2025. i mean, i'm sure team cherry could muster seconds of gameplay in the 3+ years of development. here's hoping that it does come out in 2025.

yeah, even sterling vs digital homicide kept their mouth shut. it seemed like jobst was prodding and baiting someone based on some of his videos at the time. Like The one where Billy lost against cartoon network for taking his likeness in the regular show (incidentally, if you've not watched the regular show, its fantastic).

But the bigger disappointment was not getting an official definitive smackdown on Billy that confirmed there was no merit or reason to sue someone calling him a cheater. it would have been sweet if it was about that, but alas its not.

Like i say, as long as people can continue to say that Billy mitchell was a cheat and underserving of his score and being crowned as king of kong based on the evidence uncovered, i would be fine.

Seems like A Minecraft Movie isn't as terrible as some feared, it's just an average kids movie.

It seems insane to me to charge money for the software that's supposed to get people familiar with your system. Not to mention that the new Switch 2 games all seem to start at $80 and the Switch 2 itself costs $450. I'm curious how this will work out for Nintendo now that there is quite a bit of competition in handhelds.

Plus pay extra if you want your old Switch games to take advantage of the better hardware, imagine if we had to do that on PC.

$90 for a physical copy of a game. And I thought the original games were too expensive; my kids will never be getting one, unless they can buy everything with their own money. They can stick to my Steam library and as they get older, I'll make them their own Steam accounts and buy them games there.

I already got my kid her own Steam and Epic account so I can claim free games on it for her, as well as let her play our games through family sharing without having to worry about her messing up our save games (for games that separate saves per profile at least) and letting her get her own achievements.

The list...

The BAFTA most influential list in full:
  1. Shenmue
  2. Doom
  3. Super Mario Bros
  4. Half-Life
  5. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  6. Minecraft
  7. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
  8. Super Mario 64
  9. Half-Life 2
  10. The Sims
  11. Tetris
  12. Tomb Raider
  13. Pong
  14. Metal Gear Solid
  15. World of Warcraft
  16. Baldur's Gate 3
  17. Final Fantasy VII
  18. Dark Souls
  19. Grand Theft Auto 3
  20. Skyrim
  21. Grand Theft Auto

This list is a joke, i know they are always suggestive, but this was done with "polls" and shows why you cant determine a list that way, esp. one thats stated as "most influential".

First off, having played all 3 shenmues, its nowhere near the top number 1 imo as most influential. I liked the game, sure but having that lay ahead of Doom!? Diabolical.

Id be moving Skyrim up a lot of places, along with Tetris and FF (even if thats a series i never played). Doom should be at number 1 if this list of choices was all i had.

Half-life, Super Mario, WoW etc all deserve to be in this top 25 imo, but Shenmue, KCD2, Balduers Gate and GTA 3 do not, and thats all this is, opinions en masse, just a wild list to me. I feel more attacked here than Screen Rants Top 50 anime of all time.

@DXCHASE Not sure what scoring system they have been using (maybe taking some from Steam charts), but that is a weird list. I agree with your sentiment about removing BG3, KCD2, Shenmue and GTA 3. Top of my head I would replace them with Diablo, Alone in The Dark/Resident Evil, Ultima and Monkey Island, all games that has had a huge impact in how games are made to this day.

Doom should be at number 1 if this list of choices was all i had.

Maybe if the question was which game was the most influential on the video game industry, but the question seems to me to be which game is the most influential on popular culture as a whole, in which case I would put Tetris, Super Mario Bros, Minecraft and Pong all above DOOM. Probably World of Warcraft as well.

I wonder if that will become a collectors item in years to come based on how few people will buy it.

In the past you used to get a free game or two with a console, now they charge you for the instructions... Can I go back to 1980's again? Consoles were social enough with 4 controller ports, no need for constant internet connections, a camera and a microphones... Nintendo spy device more like.

Plus pay extra if you want your old Switch games to take advantage of the better hardware, imagine if we had to do that on PC.
I bet the other two console makers hope the idea catches on.

Really, if the price of games & the console itself is too high, just don't buy it. If enough consumers just said no with their wallet, then they might reduce prices on the games.

I looked at the Switch 2 games list just recently (in the last hour) and it really didn't pull me in - mainly as all the franchises I used to play are gone... Mario Kart... how surprising. Bring back Pilot Wings. When was last flight sim on a Nintendo console? They playing it too safe... Palworld didn't wake them up enough.

I should do that, just so they can have their own save files. Though, they like playing on my saves anyway, like in Subnautica, so they can "complete" the game, given I have a save at the very end.

I won't be buying one, but there are enough suckers out there who go ga-ga for the same old Mario and Zelda. Not that Breath of the Wild wasn't good, but it certainly wasn't the best open world game I've ever played and in general, Nintendo titles tend to be very prescriptive; so much so that their games don't excite me. I played Mario Wonder and yup, it's a Mario game. All the stuff I like to play on my NDS and 3DS are not Nintendo first party games and the last one I played that I really enjoyed was Zelda Minish Cap from GBA and that was made by Capcom.

I get why people like the Switch, but I don't fully understand the love of Nintendo games in general. They're all fine, just not terribly interesting.

yeah this is just terrible. Shenmue should NOT be the no.1 game that was the MOST influential game. honestly, shenmue wouldn't even be on my list of influential games.

I hate having to have the actual resource on the avatar.
Eventually, everything splits to this and that and that over there yonder.
Where is there so little character customization??
CC is almost an essential part of most games now.
No need for a helmet if there's no O2 meter.
No need for voiced dialogue or acting here.

There needs to be a major update with more of a story OR a sequel.

HA! I was about to say "not a bad list" and then list off pretty much the same things as you. That cup is half full, DXCHASE! I would put the new XCOM series on the list, too - that thing revitalized turn-based gaming.

Hehehe, just 50 years ago... how did Jacob get older than me?

P.S. Almost rage-quit at the statement about Micro-soft starting the home computer revolution instead of Apple, Atari, or Commodore - the IBM PC was late to that party. The Altair, though... Had to swallow my rage.

If you attended a sporting event and noticed that the referee was out on the field simultaneously playing the game and also putting penalties on other players, wouldn't you think that was pretty fuc"ed up?
If a person were put in charge of moderating a forum, wouldn't you say that at a minimum, that person be completely impartial and completely logical?
If a moderator applied rules rules arbitrarily and irrationally, wouldn't you insist that they be removed?
If the language of the forum you're on is English, shouldn't the moderator speak English as their native language, and have a flawless command of English grammar?
Mod "Kaamos Llamo" is obviously either ******** or dishonest, and does not deserve to be a mod. Let's get rid of this shi t bag.
