I had plans to change all the text to something humorous, but I'm not feeling well, and this one seemed kind of funny on it's own (I generated about 30 of these). I probably just have a weird sense of humor, but I'm picturing that evil ferret, or whatever it is over his shoulder, being the main antagonist and final boss of the riveting new game, Crencat the Blasus.

Is the text not already humorous enough? And honestly, kind of a great name for a game, at least it would be easy to find on Google.

April already? Dang.

Hopefully starting the month off right though. My returned wrong computer will arrive with the seller today, so I'll get my refund shortly, my Dell I sold should arrive today to my buyer, so hopefully no more stress around that and then my own new laptop should also arrive today, so I'll get to tinker with that this evening and do some benchmarking. Maybe even get a game downloaded in time to play something...

Is it April fools day today? Maybe I need to stay away from the Internet.

Why would you take your demo down with a month left to go before the game goes on sale? A lot of developers do that, and I just don't get it. I went to get the Tempest Rising demo, a game that releases in 3 weeks, to see if I might like it, but, no, they have gotten rid of it. How does that make sense? With the game getting ready to launch, it seem like NOW would be the perfect time for a demo.

Publishers doing what Publishers do and assuming people will just play the demo instead of buying the game?

I suppose that since most people don't play most of the games that they purchase that this may be a valid concern.

Speaking of BeardyHat (and others), I think I've decided to connect my laptops to the desktop via Windows remote workstation software. If it works as well as Steam streaming works, then there shouldn't be any noticeable lag. That way I can just keep using my laptops how I like using them, but with more oomph behind them. For instance, my AI work will run much, much faster.

If anyone knows this is a bad idea for some reason, I'd appreciate you sharing this before I set it up (tomorrow evening if they deliver my PC when they are supposed to).

If there is a small amount of lag, I could just use Steam streaming for the games, and still use remote workstation for the AI.

Are you just talking about general RDP that comes baked into Windows?

If so, I use it on the regular to RDP into my server, but I wouldn't recommend it for trying to game, the latency is pretty bad and there's a lot of weirdness that comes with it if you're trying to do any gaming with it. Though, if you're "just" doing AI work--as though I know what that entails--it may work just fine for you. I often login to my server to move files around and do basic tasks. It can also be a little janky with multiple monitors on the Server.

Though you still have options, as if that won't work well, you can use Moonlight to stream your desktop. It's designed for gaming, so lower latency and you adjust the quality of it by the megabit; it's pretty straightforward to setup.

Thanks. I've been really happy with Steam streaming for games, so I'll probably just keep using that, but if I have problems with it, I'll check out moonlight. I'll probably look at moonlight anyway if it's an all-in-one solution.

never mind. I see that Moonlight is open source. I'll be using that then. Thanks!

How much do I owe you? I'll just get @Pifanjr to write a check. I'm sure I can think of a reason why he owes me money. It may be a terrible reason, but maybe he'll fall for it.

Just finished this video, I thought it was pretty interesting. I haven't heard any dissenting opinions about this game since it released, so it's interesting to see someone talking about how and why they didn't like it.

Seems like much of the criticism is legitimate, but I am still curious to give the game a go if I could pick it up for less than $20. But that was my stance before I watched this video too, so...

Demos are free advertising.
Which would they prefer? people try the demo and maybe buy game, or without a way to play game for free, don't even bother buying your full product?

Why would you take your demo down with a month left to go before the game goes on sale? A lot of developers do that, and I just don't get it. I

removing them before release is dumb unless its an online game and demo was set on test servers that no longer exist after full game is out.

I miss the good old days when ya could still try a demo out 10 years after a game came out cause they left it up so people could see if they liked it...... the good old days.....

I know one of my friends used to play through his desktop with his laptop all the time, though I'm not entirely sure what he used. There's also a good chance that he only did so for turn-based or grand strategy games where a bit of input lag doesn't really matter.

Hey, @Pifanjr , remember that thing I helped you with?

*pausing to see if he can think of something since I can't*

Seems we have a similar amount of posts thanking the other for something, I think we're even.

In the March thread I talked about playing Coin Game and Schedule I, but I forgot to mention that I tried to give Pillars of Eternity another try. I then remembered why I don't play these kinds of games anymore.

This is not bashing the game at all, this really comes down to my own incompetence. There are WAY too many mechanics going on here. If I grew up playing games like these, maybe even playing D&D, I would understand it better, but I'm too simpleminded to wrap my head around a lot of this stuff. What the hell is the difference between Constitution, Fortitude, Endurance and Health? They all work together in different ways to calculate different points relating to how much damage you receive and absorb and how many points you have to be able to pull different moves and... man that game about dealing drugs looks fun...

Just like with so many other genres of games, they look like a ton of fun and I would love to get into them, but when I actually try, I either get overwhelmed or bored and move on. This is what I get for trying something new!

I think my brain is too slow to notice input lag

I've been enjoying it too. Was my favorite demo during NextFest. That solo dev has changed his life forever. The best estimate I can find is that he's already sold 1.25 million copies. After Valve takes their cut, if they took the full 30 percent, which they wouldn't, he'd make about $16 million right now.

Man, if I had that kind of money, I'd goof around all day...um...so nothing would change I guess...

I joked with my brother earlier saying "the dev could never release another patch and live the rest of his life extremely comfortably. Probably wouldn't be illegal since he technically already delivered a game".

More money to buy more games I'll never play!
