Question Anyone here playing Nightreign?

I know we have some FromSoft fans on here. What are your impressions of Nightreign, whether you've played it yet or not? I've got about a dozen hours in so far and am enjoying getting my ass kicked. Lots of mixed reviews out there, so would love to hear what other's experiences are.

I do like From Soft games, but this one being multiplayer focused in a way the others weren't, didn't really pique my interest. It further deflated when I discovered that you're obligated to runs for like 45 minutes.

Not to be a Negative Nancy, but it's just not my jam in any way, in spite of liking FromSoft games.

I was definitely worried about it sucking, but once the reviews came out I decided to pull the trigger. At first I was getting frustrated with the new mechanics and was getting my ass kicked.

Some major positives:

1. Matchmaking has been flawless from the jump. Even when I booted the game 5 minutes after release I had zero trouble queuing with others. No server issues to speak of, which I was truthfully expecting problems due to the amount of players that were online.
2. Your understanding of what you need to do for each run grows as you play. Much like Elden Ring, the formula works because you fail trying over and over again until you figure it out.
3. The community is strong. I've been learning from other players game mechanics that I (shamefully) glossed over in the tutorial. I'm not the only one that did it either. We all were like, "we know Elden Ring, I'm not reading that." But interesting mechanics like getting the passive abilities of all weapons and items in your inventory, and consuming boluses buffs your character for the ENTIRE RUN, are things I'm learning and developing my playstyle with.
4. The character classes are really fun to experiment with and they have neat "ash of war" style special abilities that help you pull off epic movie scene moments.

On top of all that it has a lot of "holy **** that's cool" moments. You're not going to have the best luck every run, but when everything clicks its so, so satisfying. After 12 hours in-game I've felled my first Nightlord. Can't wait to take on the next seven!

sadly my machine can't run it and the pvp nature means it even less to play it. From soft fan base of GitGud pricks might be on the prowl.

Already seen several posts in elden ring FB groups that come into my feed for some reason saying stuff along this line. Probably the most toxic group of SPs out there imo. I think there is absolutely 0 specialness in being able to beat a souls game as much as someone who beats any other game. But im always going to be happy for those that arent these types of people that enjoy the game for what it is.

I will say there's been a bigger riff than usual after a FromSoft release. Even tried and true fans have changed their tune when it comes to this title. It leads to a lot of keyboard arguments, but in the end you either like it or you don't. They were pretty clear about what the game was and how it works from the jump, so its really our own fault if we're expecting something else.

A quick update - although it seems I may be the only one playing Nightreign so this may just be going into the void

After 22 hours in game I have felled half of the Nightlords, and am now working on what many are saying is the toughest boss in the game, The Equilibrius Beast: Libra, Creature of the Night (name long enough for ya?)

I have only queued with random players and have had a pretty good mix of skill levels, but mostly people are pretty damn good at the game which helps A LOT! There is a game mechanic called "Shifting Earth" where parts of the map change to open up new challenges and run altering rewards. It's really cool, but honestly there's no way I'd be able to figure some of them out without a guide or having someone walk me through them (which has been my preferred way, I like the hand-holding!).

Anyway, Libra is proving to be my Malenia for Nightreign. Hopefully I can eek out a win eventually!
