@Charagma said ....Correct me if I am wrong but the original "Law" says that we are only buying "playtime" and not the actual product. E.g I buy (lack of better term) a game on steam, but this only grants me play rights and not the actual title.

I have commented many times about what you actually " own " when you purchase a game .
When i got my first pc in 2002 i had no idea what running spec actually meant so i bought quiet a few games that my low spec pc would not run. Whenever i went back to the store i was always refused a refund because they would say that because i opened the box i was now the licence holder and licences are not transferable.
Sometimes they would take the game off me and say if it runs on our machine its your problem not ours and with a cheeky grin i would say YOU cant use my game cos i am the licence holder .... still no refunds.
I ended up with a lot of games i could not use and even when i got a better quality pc i still could not use them because you HAD to go through the online registration and i would get ..... the email and code is already in use
of course it was BY ME ....
Even when i took a game back and proved the disc was faulty i was refused a refund because i had opened the box...... i am not proud to admit this but when that happened i was in a bad place with a breakdown just round the corner .... i kicked off and was escorted out of the store.
I did not like games clients when i first started using them because i had not physical item in my hand .... the disc .... and then i got it ........ no more shop hassle
SMART ASS FOOTNOTE ....... does that mean that 100 devs take 2 years to make a game and i buy the licence and get the game for free.
