Just being both honest and lazy, I'd personally rather open up the Discord app on my phone and let it look at my face for a second, but not everyone is of the same mind, so here are a couple of apps you can use to trick facial age identification (not tested by me):

Everything I've read seems to indicate that Discord doesn't really have to do this.

The problems, to me, are:

1) There are no rational privacy standards that cover everyone other than things like HIPPA. Outside of these laws, companies do whatever they want, and what they want is outrageous.

2) Laws regarding storing and securing customer data are also practically non-existent leading to constant leaking of customer data.

I actually had more things to put here, like the governmental push for storing biomarkers, etc. but it's 4:45 am, and I don't feel like being comprehensive. I'll just say that if we took an appropriate amount of caution when companies start collecting information....Jebus, there are just so many issues. It's alarming, for instance, that everyone wants to either verify your age themselves or use a different service. The more places that have this information, the more insecure our privacy is.

Thankfully, it is easy to delete a Discord account (+- the 14-day timer) and remove it from the system.

One conflict here is that most gamers, apparently, aren't just against certain methods of age verification, but are against the whole concept of age verification. Sure, if that's your stance, I won't argue with you, but countries are making laws that require it. If you don't want age verification at all, it's the lawmakers who need to be talked to, not the companies trying to comply with the new laws.

@Zed Clampet, I'm fine with some age verification, but not the kind that wants to know more about you than just your age (except for obvious ones like bank/health platform identification). I noticed this recently in Kraftons PUGB game as they wanted to have my telephone number for me to play on ranked servers. I was like, wtf? So, no PUBG ranked for me. Companies can try all they want to suck my information, and I will try my very best to give them my middle finger. This all smells of collecting data, controlling masses, manipulating consumers and personally, I'm fed up with it.

This is the sort of thing that causes these problems and the general sentiment of no age checks. This is, in my mind, an abusive request and completely typical of tech company attitudes.
