Most American central air systems dehumidify the air during hot days, and heat naturally dehumidifies the air. You may want to get a hygrometer to see if you really need to be running a dehumidifier. If you run it when you don't need to you can ruin things like carpet or cause yourself to have sinus problems. I would guess the times when you would need it most would be when you don't need either heat or air, but I don't live where you do, so maybe you need it all the time.I live on the oregon coast and the humidity is regularly 100%. I read that humidity can corrode metal parts in the pc.
