What's on your PC gaming bucket list?

Hey PC gamers, welcome back to the chat log. This week (last week) Mollie and I decided to make our PC gaming bucket lists. The only rule was that we couldn't just say "play everything in my backlog" because that's never going to happen anyhow. Instead we chatted about games we want to finish, games we want to beat (a very small distinction), online games to play before the servers go offline, and more. So what about you?

What's on your PC gaming bucket list?

Chip in something from our list of questions as you listen if you want to or just share a free space bucket list item of your own!
  • A game you want to (finally) play
    • Or, if you're feeling creative, a game you hope actually comes out before you kick the bucket
  • A game you want to actually "beat," whether that means 100%ing it or just rolling credits, or something else
  • An achievement you want to get
  • A series you want to finish
  • A multiplayer game you want to get into before the servers eventually go offline

I would not mind getting all the achievements for Baldurs Gate 3. I also would like to beat Yacuza 0 eventually. It's a fun game, but I often end up spending time doing the minigames than actually following much of the main story.

The Witcher games. They're in my Steam library, but I never played them. I tried to start the first one last year, but I couldn't get passed the atrocious game play. With a remaster coming up, I decided to hold off. For now I'm re-reading the books, and at the rate I'm going I probably won't wrap up until Spring. Afterward, I plan to watch the Netflix series. Then I'll probably play the 3rd installment. From there, I'll play the remaster, and hopefully the 2nd will also get a remaster.

If I had to pick a few games and experiences for my PC gaming bucket list, here’s what I'd go for:
  1. Complete a 100% playthrough of The Witcher 3: It’s a masterpiece with endless side quests and hidden details. I want to experience every choice and outcome.
  2. Build a crazy modded Skyrim playthrough. Load it up with realistic graphics, new quests, and immersion-enhancing mods to create a fresh experience.
  3. Take on an ultra-hard strategy game like Crusader Kings III. Winning a game where every decision counts and one misstep can change everything would be a thrill.
  4. Survive in Escape from Tarkov: I want to master its high-stakes realism, where each raid is intense and every item is hard-earned.
  5. Complete a full VR game: Whether it's Half-Life: Alyx or a VR adventure RPG, I want to experience the immersive experience on PC.

Not sure if it counts as bucket list material, but I have been stubbornly waiting for The Last of Us Part Two to come to PC to play it. I do love the first game, and I even have a PS4 but could never bring myself to buy it for console... I mean the writing's been on the wall for some time, all the Sony exclusives have been gradually coming to PC if you're patient enough... and it seems like such an easy bit of cross promotion to have it release just in time for season 2 of the TV show, so hopefully 2025 is the year 🤞

As for completing a series, I'm almost up-to-date with Yakuza (and I only skipped one game 👀), so I just need to keep that up - I do need a bit of a break between Yakuza games; I recently finished Yakuza 6 and Like a Dragon back-to-back and Like a Dragon is simultaneously the best and worst of Yakuza - so I need a big ol' break before taking on Man Who Erased His Name and Infinite Wealth 😅

Also, I am doubtful this will ever happen, but I'd like to see an end to the Shenmue saga in my lifetime 😂 I see a lot of online hate for Shenmue 3 so I think that ship has sailed...

I have many a time on the podcast complained about the original Witcher game haha. It's so clunky and awful and I'm not sure I would encourage anyone to muscle through it and yet I'm glad I did. I worry they'll get rid of its weird but neat combat system in the remaster and just use The Witcher 3's combat.

You have my full moral support for finishing the Yakuza games. I'm still not caught up which I feel badly about! You really do need to take a break between some of the bigger ones.

Hats off to you! That's a signature-worthy achievement! I don't think I played more than 15 min when I decided to quit in fear of suffering from health issues due to prolonged exposure.
