Question Virtual Machine viability

I'm looking to build a pc for myself but like all siblings my little brother will inevitably want to play with me, so i wondered the viability of having part of my pc's resources go towards the virtual machine.
1. how hard would this be on windows 10?
2. how much resources would it take just to play say Minecraft or maybe Fortnite at low fps?

very easy with cpu with virualization technology.
VMware workstation is free for non-commercial use (this is the virtual machine software)
you can adjust how much resource they use. change it as required
easily done

I'm not sure how much you're both going to enjoy playing like that on the same monitor - it won't even be like splitscreen on console. Is there any other PC or very old laptop they could use instead that you already own..?
