Vince Zampella, the co-founder of Infinity Ward and head of Battlefield, dies in car crash
Zampella was reportedly killed in a car crash over the weekend.
I'm not putting this in the articles thread because I think Mr. Zampella deserves his own thread.
For years I've been wishing that Zampella would be made CEO of Electronic Arts. He was not your normal large corpo exec. The guy loved games and gamers. He was the one who told people who had bought the latest Battlefield on the EA app to refund the game and buy it on Steam (because of problems people were having with the app).
There were a lot of things through the years that inspired me to follow his career. He frequently publicly said the opposite of what CEO Andrew Wilson was saying. He might have been the only one at EA who could do that, and his influence is going to be badly missed.
I'm too old to have heroes, but if I had heroes in the gaming industry, Mr. Zampella certainly would have been one.
