Question Threadripper 1900x vs ryzen 5 3600

I have found that the ryzen 5 3600 and threadripper 1900x are the same-ish price I will be using it mostly to run games but i will be doing other things in the background are the extra cores worth it or will it not matter?

Never mind the motherboards are much more expensive
