Outlast 3 date is unknown, if it happens at all.

A smaller game, The Outlast Trials, is due out 2022.

It's incredibly confusing, but you two are talking about the same game. The Outlast Trials is loosely referred to as Outlast 3 by players. Whether there is actually going to ever be something named Outlast 3 is up for debate, and the developer surely isn't helping to wade through the confusion.
