I'm pretty sure the whole NFT thing is either people whitewashing money somehow or people just gambling on how long this artificial inflation will keep up for.

I don't get buying anything virtual like that. I understand small purchases in games, I understand dlc. But some things are just silly:
Colif looks at star citizen & the amount of ships already bought in it.
Earth2 is just as bad really. Want to buy a virtual piece of the world? Wonder when/if game is actually made... hmm

There's an interesting experiment called Second Life which has been going for nearly 20 years. It's similar to the new buzzword metaverse. It has a currency—exchangeable for fiat currency—economy, and trade in goods and services.

My GF was in it for a few years early on, even bought a retail space for our business there. It's got plenty of serious uses and has been studied extensively by economists, social scientists, etc.
