Tis the season...I haven't played a horror game in awhile now, but these are some of the ones from 2024 that look good to me and generally received pretty positive user reviews on Steam
Definitions:*
Horror: Usually contains enemies you can't fight, forcing you to rely on stealth, fleeing and hiding. Technically, the rest of the categories can be broadly thought of as sub-genres of Horror, but in the case of games "Horror" is also a sub-genre of Horror. Examples: Soma, Outlast, Amnesia the Dark Descent
Survival Horror: Usually contains enemies that you can fight. Often includes inventory and ammo management. Examples: Alien Isolation, Resident Evil, The Evil Within
Psychological Horror: Usually no enemies. Plays with your mind. Example: Doki Doki Literature Club
Interactive Movie: Not necessarily horror-themed. Usually little direct control of character movement. The player watches the story, completes QTEs and makes narrative decisions. Example: Man of Medan, The Walking Dead
