Did you know that there is a SANDBOX like World of Warcraft ? only in isometric view. I will write a few words....Fractured Online is a game that at first glance resembles World of Warcraft, but in an isometric view. Such a classic MMORPG with an open world, but instead of a rigid framework we have a full sandbox. This means you can do whatever you want, and the whole world is one big playground. On top of that, the game is free, on a free-to-play model, and micropayments are limited to cosmetic things only. Sounds good, doesn't it? Well, but how does it compare in practice?

To begin with, I have to say that the game gives you tremendous freedom. You can be anything you want - a warrior, merchant, builder or explorer. There is no classic character class system, everything depends on how you develop skills. For me, this is a big plus, because everyone can create a character that fits his or her play style. On top of that, there is a player-controlled economy.

All items, from swords to house furniture, you either have to produce yourself or buy from other players. The game has two main worlds, each different. There is something for everyone. In addition, Fractured places a strong emphasis on interaction between players. Building cities, fighting for territories, inter-guild politics - it all really works and makes you feel like you have an impact on the game world. It's also nice that the micropayments here are only cosmetic. There is no pay-to-win, which is a rarity these days. Everyone has a level playing field, and that's appreciated.

But it is known, not everything is perfect. The game is in an isometric view, which may not convince everyone. If someone is used to full 3D and cameras from behind the character's back, he or she may have a problem to get screwed. On top of that, there is a high entry threshold ( up to level 15 it's quite DIFFICULT! ) There is a tutorial ( I gave up and went straight to the deep end) , but then the game throws you in at the deep end and you have to deal with it on your own. Not everyone has the patience for that. Technically it is not perfect either. There are bugs but I gave the developers a chance ( I still have fun today). And then there is the lack of an epic storyline which, in the case of Warcraft, is tiresome! It's a game where the narrative is created by the players, so if you're looking for something with a great story, you may be disappointed. Well, and the player base is a bit smaller, so sometimes it's hard to find someone to play together.
So it's a title with potential, but it's more for those who like a challenge and aren't afraid to explore complex mechanics. If you're looking for a game where you can create your own experiences and influence the world, it's worth a try. But if you're counting on being led by the hand or a contrived scheme, you may bounce. Fractured isn't for everyone, but for those who get hooked, it can be a hit. World is sooo big!
