I bought a Ryzen 5 4600G and an Asus Prime B450M-A II, and I have the following RAM modules:

Kingston KVR24N17S6/4 (2 modules 1x4GB)

Specifications:

  • Capacity: 4 GB
  • Type: DDR4
  • Frequency: 2400 MHz
  • CAS Latency: CL17
  • Voltage: 1.2V
  • Modules:
    • 2025 0000008828491-P001247
    • 2025 0000008828491-P000538

Hynix HYM125S64CP8-Y5 (1 x 4GB)

Specifications:

  • Capacity: 4 GB
  • Type: DDR4
  • Frequency: 2133 MHz
  • CAS Latency: CL15 or CL16
  • Voltage: 1.2V
  • Identification:
    • 4GB 2Rx8 PC4-2133P-UA0-11-B0

Patriot PSD48G2133K (2 modules it’s a kit 2x4GB)

Specifications:

  • Capacity: 4 GB
  • Type: DDR4
  • Frequency: 2133 MHz
  • CAS Latency: CL15
  • Voltage: 1.2V

The five RAM modules I own work correctly when used individually. If I install a single RAM module in any of the four slots on the motherboard, the system powers on and displays video without any issues. Each module has been tested in every slot, and they all work separately. However, when I try to use two modules simultaneously—for example, the two Patriot PSD48G2133K modules—in the recommended slots or any other combination of the four available slots, the system does not display video. I have tried multiple combinations with all my RAM modules, and none of them display video when paired together. The system only shows video if I install a single module in any slot.

My cousin lent me two RAM modules he owns, specifically the TeamGroup TTCED48G3200HC16FBK model, with the following key specifications:

  • Capacity: 8 GB
  • Type: DDR4
  • Frequency: 3200 MHz
  • CAS Latency: CL16
  • Voltage: 1.35V
With these modules, the system does display video when two modules are installed simultaneously, regardless of the combination of the four RAM slots. I don't understand why my RAM modules don't work in pairs, while my cousin's modules do. This concerns me because I want to ensure I'm not doing something wrong with my modules. Additionally, I'm considering purchasing 32 GB of RAM and utilizing all four slots on the motherboard, but I'm unsure if the four modules will be compatible.

It's important to note that neither my RAM modules nor my cousin's appear on the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) provided by ASUS for the Prime B450M-A II. I've noticed that, in some cases, the QVL includes 4x8 GB kits that only work in pairs of two modules.

What can I do to make my 4 GB modules work together on this motherboard?

Do you have the latest BIOS?

these are the sticks tested by Kingston on that motherboard
They don't appear to have tested any 2133 on it, and only 1 4gb stick is shown.

Patriot aren't so nice, they don't have a tool like that.

Ryzen CPU are picky. If the ram hasn't been tested to work with the board by either ram maker or Motherboard maker, you sort of out of luck. It is hit and miss.

You might need to buy different ram, and make sure it appears on either MB or Ram makers website as working with the board.

I didn't check Hynix as its only 1 stick, and Ryzen doesn't work much better when mixing different stick makers, it can end in errors even if it does boot.
