You would be surprised, its actually way easier to get a reflective image in a all black case with dark tinted glass and no rgb. I would show example but hard to take a photo off it without my reflection. And its really just a box.

Almost all white. If I had this GPU I would have all white heat sinks
and then I swap the black on Air cooler to a white one...

But I like the contrast.

I find there are more rgb colours that work in a black case. I seem to always be ice blue or white.
Might swap the power cables next year, add more colour. I don't want to change PC for a while.

With all the "new" DDR 4 systems being made, this makes sense

@Colif I'm not sure what you mean by a "copilot laptop" but if you are using Windows 11 it should be exactly the same thing, so far as I know. Isn't adding "copilot" just a branding thing? There's no new version of Windows that emphasizes it more than it already is so far as I know.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and get her a Lenovo laptop.

They did exist but I can guess mum won't get one of those anyway. they are the NPU powered ones, not sure if all are or not.

One mystery I always wondered about was why some Xenforo links are unfurled in German
XenForo typically displays websites in German during the "unfurl" process (rich link preview) because the server hosting the XenForo forum is physically located in Germany or uses a German IP address

So I guess that answers that one

Oh, the ARM ones. Yeah, no clue about those.

Given IBM used to make the Thinkpad line before they bought it out, I decided to look.

I am suggesting models to brother, they might just ignore me.

These look about best for her.

main differences are screen sizes, and CPU maker. Top uses AMD, other uses Intel.

she doesn't need amazing, just enough. 16gb ram, 512gb ssd. I didn't even look at the CPU lol
Neither is a co pilot+ branded one. Neither has a GPU. She doesn't play games lol. That was what dad used it for.

AMD system has 6 cores but it supports multi threading so 12 threads
Intel system has 16 cores (8 P cores, 6 E Cores, 2 low power E cores) but no multi threading, so total of 16 threads

so while core counts are in Intel favour, the difference is only 4 threads. I am comparing a 5 to a 7, so makes sense.

That and they one generation apart, the Ultra was released at same time as the Ryzen 9000 series but I don't see any ideapads using that series. They all 7000. It helps to remember the AMD Laptops use a different series to desktops. Seems latest Non AI is series 200.

Or they use this in gaming

and she doesn't need this:

I wouldn't want that anyway as its a "gaming" laptop with an amazing CPU but only 8gb vram on the 5060... pass

Most 6 core AMD in budget PC and the 8 cores in gaming. Above that is a mix of both. 9955hx3d is 16 cores/32 threads. Its better than my CPU lol.

Doubt she notice, she going from a 4 core, 4 thread PC with a hdd. The speed difference will be amazing lol. Intel have its way we still be on 4 cores, but Ryzen happened.

I'm not very familiar with the AMD laptop CPUs, but I assume they are fine. That laptop has slightly faster RAM, but may not be expandable or easily replaced since it says it is soldered. Probably that's not really an issue, though. Both of those are going to be huge improvements over what she's using now. Just wait until she sees how fast they boot up 🙂
