I hate trying to find reviews for a monitor that was literally announced today
The MSI site only 1 hour old.

They both use same panel so it comes down to which you like look of more. The Asus seems to have more features.

UWQHD resolution. 3440 x 1440p
only way to get close to 1440p without 27inch screens.
Curved screen... never used curved yet. At 34 inch it makes sense.
2 inches more than current screen isn't that much.

No one has them since they only showing at CES now... so I guess I wait a few months, like every other product I find on day one.

Looks like my new GPU can run that resolution fine, maybe not at 360hz but the added speed gives more overhead for frame gen. VRR means the speed difference between GPU and monitor isn't as big a problem as my last 4k was.
My PC couldn't really handle 4k very well. 5070ti is a 2k GPU through and through. Most of the games you play aren't as demanding, though. My CPU is fine for 4k, but I'd have to cut down the GPU load in the settings.

That is why UWQHD is a nice step between 2k and 4k. I am sure there are other weird resolutions in between as well... really, not that many yet

AS its not a typical resolution compared to 1080p and 4k, there aren't as many results that show its performance outside of some videos on Youtube showing results.

My 7900xt is a 2k card, the 9070 XT probably is as well.

4k may be a step too far but one size up from QHD (AKA 1440p) shouldn't put too much stress on GPU and I know CPU will be fine.
It has HDR which is one thing I want in a new monitor.
I have time to think since they are so new, by time they get here I will have forgotten again.

Ah, I see now. Don't know why I thought that was 4k. Yeah, that should be good. Mine is slightly more than 2k, but just barely. 2560 x 1600

Do you need one or two sticks on AMD? Depends on which CPU you have

I didn't know X3D sticks didn't care about dual channel ram as much as normal CPU do, mainly due to their extended Cache. The 9950X3d2 might be interesting... wonder where the cut off point is for cache, can it be used to replace ram... PC will always need ram, but if CPU can offset it, it is a nice thing if ram is hard to get.

But the slow down on start up and loading apps with only one stick in pc, isn't a placebo as he suggests. Its real, I have seen it. Its a physical difference based on the number of memory rails on the motherboard. Two sticks will be faster as they using 2 rails, not one. 4 sticks is tricky, if done right it can be 4x faster, but if done wrong it will be slower than 2.

The number of sticks seems to effect 1% lows more than max fps. With an X3d CPU you could get away with one stick in games. May depend on the games themselves, some may show other clues.

Other CPU aren't so lucky

totally worth the upgrade.

I mean, its not like I can't just run PBO and change a few settings to get the same speed on my CPU ... oh wait, I can.

I wonder if the 9850x3d runs warmer than mine... expect all they did was oc them

Have they made a GPU that can run this yet?
The 5090 apparently runs 8k fairly well, so I assume it would run 6k. At current prices, though, I no longer consider the 5090 a consumer card.
