hi everyone, i have not been on PC gamer for a long time,i honestly hope you are all well.or as well as can be.i forgot forums existed.
im still (well, trying to) game for some hours every day or listening to music or mixing music but ive been having largely frustrating isues with the charger port on the back of the laptop, the charger jack will rarely 'sit right' in the charging port on the laptop, just say im sat down (to be honest,thats very likely a given as im pysicaly disabled and a rigid active wheelchair user) for...lets say 30 minutes browsing the internet. i have no feeling in my legs but any slight knocks from my hands/wrists while typing will knock the charging jack away from the connector inside the port,and then every couple of minutes you wrestlee for 5 minutes and more with the cable and jack to sit right-waiting for the RGB lights to come on the keyboard (which shows they have finaly made contact).
i had spoke to an extremely helpful techie guy on the oficial PCS forum under a new acount as i forgot the old one (thoough found the login info later on my ipad), and he said it was probably the port and not the chargers fault, and i used my slightly oldish copy of AIDA64 extreme and it doesnt seem to think theres anything wrong with the battery or charger so it likely is the port?
ive also got an audio problem with the laptop, it makes a noise continuously when playing any sound/music.its loud,mid pitch and frequency, and sounds a bit like a cd skipping in a personal cd player (i remember them days,where these companies tell you its 40 second anti shock and you acidently give it eye contact and cause the laser to meltdown and burn the disc ).
its now gone past the waranty date-just over a year old, my problem isnt with money as such,its because im severly disabled,i live in a care home for young adults and as such im under a corporate apointee so she has control over my bank,money etc, and it takes a minimum of 2 days with each req form given to her by my suport staff before she hands the money over.
-i am personaly worried with a few things, inc how the end result will work....;not really much so about the actual cost as much but will i get enough warning on how much its going to be in order for me to get the money requested for in time? to use an example when i managed to reserve one of the first steam decks i did bring up with the suport, that can i not at least pay it off in advance because i wont be able to get the money to them for at least 2 days (and just my luck the pop up that told you the steam deck was ready to be purchased came on a saturday when my apointee is not working for the next couple of days) and they told me they understand but they cant change anything as it is,so they sugested just get my dad to pay and then pay him back which my apointee does not like me doing.
i dont want to be seen as messing the company around. i am not legaly allowed acess to my main bank acount.i dont even know it.its like a power of atorney except your only represented by another person when its anything to do with money and bills (whereas a POA or lasting POA is to do with your entire mental capacity being impaired, you woud have to have trouble to make basic choices so you then have someone acting on your behalf by proxy for every little thing).PC specialist are super secure which i am glad at but at the same time frustrated when youve got complex issues, its my dads name on the acount as originaly it made it easier as he was the billing adress and i paid him back threw the apointee.
my elderly seriously techphobic dad had to phone PC specialist to give permision for my suport staff team to get this sorted, he spent a bit of time working out a password sytsem so my suport staff can speak on my behalf as i am comunication impaired but it didnt work,for some reason they didnt kkeep hold of this infomation from my dad but eventualy we got there and they explained whats probably causing the two issues.
on the friday just gone, i had to pay the £59 for it to be picked up on this coming monday,so thats been aproved today by PC Specialist and im waiting for it to be picked up on monday.
i apologise for waffling,its working and short term memory damage i have from being life long severe epileptic, but i wanted to explain why im also asking the folowing questions.
--if, it does turn out to be a dodgy port, does this mean i need to get a completly new motherboard fitted?
/---if it means it needs the whole motherboard replacing (with the atached RTX4080) is it technicaly possible to request a motherboard with a 5090 and a higher than what ive got now dedicated vRAM (ive got 12GB of dedicated vRAM but i am just wondering is it technicaly posible if i pay more to request a diferent spec to what i had originaly? i am very sorry if that sounds stupid,ive lost a lot of my skill with computers.
--also, i was wondering ,as this bespoke recoil is one of the liquid cooling laptop series, can i request to the team that the extra part be added on if i pay, or will that have been something i needed to do back when the laptop was being put together in jan last year? i did actualy request the extra external part (its now £130 i think) ...however my apointee did not-she basicaly thinks steam is what a computer runs on.
