Currently gathering some beautiful pics to dump here. Was going to put them in the general discussion thread because i dont think this thread will be seen as much?
So i was able to get the game yesterday. Took about 5 hours to d/l and install but it was worth the wait. They absolutely nailed this "remaster" out of the park whether or not i agree with that title.
Someone was talking about having poor frames when leaving the sewers at first. I gotta agree, even with my "beefy" system. I went from over 100 FPS with everything set to ultra/dlaa (or quality) in side the sewers right down to 60 fps in the wild. I turned on frame gen and moved it back to quality and now it sits at about 100. So i guess you should play this using either the FSR 3 settings or Frame gen (if you can).
Heres one of my first screenshots
Can't say I'm excited at all, I'm afraid. I played the bahoovies out of it back in the day. The only thing I would really want to do is the Razor dungeon, which I got jipped out of because I got a new computer with Windows Vista and the DLC's DRM broke under 64-bit.
Watching the trailer was great, though! The graphics look SO much nicer!
I didn't watch the big video much. What are they planning to tweak? There was a big issue with the level scaling and one of the earlier main mission quests, where you go to a central town starting with "K." If you go there right away, it's easy and anti-climactic as little imps are guarding a pretty important thing. If you pull the "I'll do everything else first, then do the main quest" tactic, the mission is incredibly hard with huge demons around every corner.
There was also a pretty major XBox-factor, with the underground areas divided up into really small areas because the old XBox didn't have enough RAM to deal with anything larger. They could knock down a lot of walls in those places today.
Theyve improved the level scaling apparently, but they have left in old bugs. Like you can beat the game in under 15 minutes, its always been there since the first and they didnt remove it! I think thats kinda cool actually.
I probably will be doing the whole "do side stuff first then main quest" because i also played the heck out of this back in the day so ill be doing a build ive never done and do quests in different orders etc.
Man, this game had me hooked. So much so that where i was living at the time the 4 of us played it so much that we had to divide our time into 1-hour sections lol. None of us had a gaming PC and there was only 1 xbox 360.
Id say get it on sale if you cant get by any other means for cheaper. Its worth going back and seeing what they did imo.
