Motherboard WiFi problems

Hey guys,

I have a quick question. My motherboard can support up to 1.0 Gigabyte in WIFI. If I buy a PCI express adapter of 2.5 Gygabites, will it be supported or will it still be capped at 1.0 Gigabyter?
