Question motherboard doesnt read pcie m.2

board is working fine reading all other conponents but pcie m.2 not being read. using msi a520m-a pro for board and klevv c710/lexar nm620 512gb for ssd. what seems to be the problem? does the board only work with sata m.2?

Do you have latest bios on motherboard?

It says it supports pcie 3.0 & sata NVME so it should work. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/A520M-A-PRO/Specification

Sometimes the BIOS can show M.2 drives on a storage menu as it won't show listed under SATA
will bios change m.2 compatibility? i checked all the bios version and there were only improvements to the am4 socket, and my bios is already quite up to date last update was i think november 2021

sometimes bios updates can add support for m.2 so its possible.

your mb bios manual just links to a B550 boards manual. But one thing I hate about Motherboard makers is they don't show as much info on BIOS in their B boards as they do their X boards. So I have to assume this bios manual has same bios as you do, and I can't see anything in advanced mode that mentions PCIE/NVME - https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7C37v3.1.pdf

I think you might get more people who know motherboards assistance if you ask on https://forums.tomshardware.com/forums/motherboards.5/ as there should be more people who have used MSI boards there. I am there too.

are you wanting to put windows on it? Have you tried? It won't show in boot menu as its blank. It only shows there once its got windows on it. if its just storage drive, have you looked in Disk management in windows as it will need to be formatted to show up in windows.
