Why Are You Upgrading: I don’t want to buy a ps5, it’s about time I joined the master race.

Budget: £1500-£2000

Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP

Use Case: What will your machine be used for?Gaming

Parts to Upgrade: new build, need everything apart from monitor

Are you buying a monitor: No

Your Monitor Resolution and desired frame rate: i have a gaming monitor already, but could upgrade if it makes that much of a difference. I bought one with under 1ms response, it was the only thing I cared about when playing fortnite..

Preferred Website(s) for Parts? Anywhere. But I really want pre built so I can’t mess anything up.

Parts Preferences: i think intel is best? I don’t know much about pc gaming :/

Overclocking: erm :/ ...

Additional Comments:
Of the top of my head the first games I wanna play are Rome total war 2 on Mac specs and 7days to die. Dying light 2 when it comes out and most likely get back into warzone...
I will be using a scuff control, never used kb&m...

No idea what your monitor resolution is and that's important in regards to your choice of gpu. GPU prices are the worst they've ever been tmk. Graphics cards are going for three times their normal price atm due to the extreme chip shortage. With that said this will give you an idea of what you're looking at cost wise. btw this build will allow you to run that cpu with the power limits turned off in the bios.

Wow thank you so much.
Is it as easy as plug and play? I don’t want to **** things up trying to build a pc myself.

also what does this mean, I have to do some configuration to get it working?
“btw this build will allow you to run that cpu with the power limits turned off in the bios.”

Thank you for your time

Also could you recommend a monitor to compliment this build. It can be ontop the £2000 limit for the pc.

mill post what I have when I’m home but all I remeber is it was a gaming moniter with a 1ms response time. I’ll try find the specs and post to see if it’s any good

It's not difficult to build a PC but if you feel uncomfortable you can always take the parts to a local PC shop and have them put it together for you. With that said there's people here who can help walk you through the build process not to mention youtube is loaded with step by step how to vids.

As far as a monitor goes ... the RTX 3060 gpu is geared for 1080P. The RTX 3070 and 3080 can both handle 1440P resolution.

Here's a 1080P monitor that has an IPS panel along with a 144Hz refresh rate and just as important its Nvidia G Sync compatible. Normally you don't want to exceed 24 - 25 inches with 1080P monitors due to pixelation.

MSI Optix G242 £199.00

And for 1440P you can't go wrong with this monitor. 144Hz IPS Nvidia G Sync compatable.

LG Ultragear 27GL63T £249.99

I didn’t realise the the graphics card was over 50% of the total cost. Madness!

This is the moniter I currently have

  • Full HD 1920 x 1080p
  • Refresh rate: 75 Hz
  • Response time: 1 ms
  • Input: HDMI / VGA
  • Built-in speakers
so if I go above a 3060 I’ll need to get a new monitor.

I’ve been looking at pre built in curry’s because my mate sent me this link. Said this is what he has and it’s great. But he like me don’t really know what’s good or not.

Processor- Intel® Core™ i7-10700 Processor
- Octa-core
- 2.9 GHz / 4.8 GHz
- 16 MB cache
RAM- 16 GB DDR4 (2400 MHz)
- 32 GB maximum installable RAM
Graphics card- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- 8 GB GDDR6
Storage- 2 TB HDD (7200 rpm)
- 512 GB SSD

it has a intel i7 and nvidia 3070 for a cost of £1600. Seems cheep?

Ive been looking at curry’s more because he said he’s fried works their and can get me a big discount.

after he told me this I started looking at the more exp set ups.

this one with a nvidia 3080

Processor- Intel® Core™ i7-10700K Unlocked Processor
- Octa-core
- 3.8 GHz / 5.1 GHz
- 16 MB cache
RAM16 GB DDR4 (3200 MHz)
Graphics card- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
- 10 GB GDDR6X
Storage- 2 TB HDD (7200 rpm)
- 512 GB SSD

And then this one with a i9 and nvidia 3090

Processor- Intel® Core™ i9-10900K Unlocked Processor
- Deca-core
- 3.7 GHz / 5.3 GHz
- 20 MB cache
RAM32 GB DDR4 (3200 MHz)
Graphics card- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090
- 24 GB GDDR6X
Storage- 2 TB HDD (7200 rpm)
- 1 TB SSD

I only started looking at these more expensive ones because he said he can get a big discount and maybe can get over 1k discount on the 3k machine making it fit my budget.

but at the same time are they just gonna be mad overkill?
I notice they dont mention motherboard on any, is this a very important part they’ve left out. Do I need to find out what is before I decide?

what do be you think of these pre builds?

also I looked for graphics cards but they don’t have any nvidia cards for sale. Only as part of the pre builds.
I kinda want to pick something from currys and see what type of discount I can get. He said maybe up to 50%..

thank you for all your help @whyme. When I’ve finallypulled the trigger I’ll send you a little thank you for being my advisor lol. You do crypto?

If I had to choose out of the three it would probably be the HP Omen w/10700K. Where they shorted that build is on the SSD and like most prebuilts they don't list the PSU and MB .. as to cut corners to keep the cost down. As far as getting your hands on an RTX30XX card ... Ebay is pretty much your only choice .. that or a prebuilt.
