Issue on trying to fit a 360 AIO

Hi

My son upgraded his PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X a while ago and he started having problems which pointed to the stock cooler not being good enough to keep the temps down.

So he bought an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360. The case he has is a NZXT H6 Flow RGB which says it supports 360 rads, so it looked like a good option.

But when we tried to fit it yesterday evening, it would not quite go in.

The motherboard he has is an Asus ROG Stric B550-F Gmaing Wifi II and the IO connectors at the back have a Plastic shroud with an RGB motif covering it. The corner of the rad hits the edge of this plastic shroud and it looks like it needs another 3 to 4 mm to fit correctly.

So the questions I have is:

1. Should I try to remove the plastic IO cover?
2. Is it safe to do so?
3. If it can be done. will doing so cause any other problems?

I understand that there's always the possibility that, even if I could remove it, whatever is underneath might still not allow the clearance needed.

As we got to this stage and got all the bits out of the box the AIO came in, I'm not sure I can return it.

Any help is, of course, appreciated.

Hi and welcome.

Its got a fat radiator that Arctic cooler, over 10mm wider than a lot of other AIOs.

Is it possible to install the radiator in the front of the case with the tubes at the top, so that the high point is above the CPU Block?

I wouldnt want to mess with the IO cover unless it has obvious screws you can take off easily, ghetto rigging is a last resort. I'd look into the possibility of return before that.

I guess it's my fault for not measuring everything up beforehand.

I don't think it can be fitted in the front. The front fan area isn't flat, it's at a 45 degree angle and the way the metal sits behind it just doesn't give enough clearance.

I am messaging the supplier. I'll wait and see what they say about returning it.

Thanks.

It happens, to me it happens a lot :)

Shame you can't get it in the front either. Just to be clear:
I wouldnt want to mess with the IO cover unless it has obvious screws you can take off easily.

I cant find any teardowns of the board to see if theres any wiring in there for the RGB, so if you do end up trying to take it off look out for any little cables before you yank it off fully. Good luck!

case spec sheet only shows 360 in roof and 120 on rear for radiator support. Shame the side slot doesn't support them.

Lesson for future: Look in manual for the case before buying it. Confirm idea will work first...

Maybe use PC Part Picker as it may have shown some warnings about spacing

As we got to this stage and got all the bits out of the box the AIO came in, I'm not sure I can return it.
if you have all the packaging etc, its worth contacting store and explain why you need a refund. Some shops have return periods.
