Is Assassin’s Creed Mirage Still Worth Playing in 2025? Here’s My Honest Take!

As an AC fan who’s replayed most entries, I went back to Mirage recently with an open mind—and let me tell you, it’s still a solid pick if you crave that old-school assassin vibe.

First off, Baghdad is a masterpiece. Ubisoft nailed the 9th-century Islamic Golden Age vibe—colorful districts (bustling markets, scholarly hubs, opulent city centers) that feel distinct without checking the map. It’s smaller than Valhalla/Origins, but that density makes it feel alive—no empty deserts (okay, there are some, but skip ’em) just nonstop parkour opportunities. Speaking of parkour: it’s the best since Syndicate! Basim glides over ropes, slides down rooftops, and even rolls over obstacles—smooth, fun, and way more satisfying than Valhalla’s clunky movement.

But the real star? Stealth. This is where Mirage shines. Throwing knives that silent-takeout enemies mid-air (slow-mo included!), upgradable tools (poison traps, explosive smoke bombs, sleep darts—so many playstyles), and enemy line-of-sight markers that make infiltration feel strategic. I spent hours sneaking through camps without being spotted, and it gave me that classic “I’m a total assassin badass” rush. Even the skill tree keeps it fresh—chain assassinations and extra tool capacity are must-unlocks.

Now, the downsides: Combat is meh (simple parry-dodge loops, not much variety) and the story’s slow (Basim’s fine, but no memorable side chars). But honestly? I didn’t care—Mirage’s world and stealth made up for it. At 20-30 hours total, it’s a tight, focused AC experience, not a 100-hour grind.

If you hated Valhalla’s bloat and miss the days of Unity/Syndicate, give Mirage a shot. It’s not perfect, but it’s a love letter to classic AC—and in 2025, that’s still more than enough.
