Dear All,
I am a first time desktop PC builder. Looking to take advantage of black friday deals now, will buy Nvidia 5080 gpu when its available in couple of months.

Objective

* Build VR Gaming PC for wireless gaming with Quest 3. Also occastional QHD gaming on flat monitor.
* Should be able to run games using UEVR (like Atomic Heart, Silent Hill) at least 72Hz and high resolution on Quest 3 and native PCVR games like Metro Awakening, Half life Alyx etc.
* Should connect wirelessly to Quest 3 using Virtual desktop or wireless steam vr etc.
* Does it mean I used get a mother board with wifi 7 inbuilt or should i get cheaper B650E mother board with wifi 6E and later add a wifi 7 card? Quest 3 only support wifi 6E. But Quest 4 should have wifi 7 when i upgrade to quest 4 in future.
* I wont be regularly upgrading & spending more money on the PC for next 5 years at least.

Budget

* Would like build a cost effective PC for VR. Do not want to spend money for asethetics like RGB since it would be put on the floor or hung below the table on the flexispot desk.
* Not worried too much about noise. Unless it interfer with gaming experience too much.
* All the money should be spent to increase the VR performance.

Already shortlisted parts

* 9800x3d
* For now added Nvidia 4090 as placeholder for now but will later buy Nvidia 5080 when its launched in few months. Budget for GPU is around Euros 1000. The system should be compatibile with 5080.
* RAM - CL30 , 6000hz

Please suggest the following parts

* Motherboard - Do I need to spend more for wifi 7 motherboard now? Its should also have primary 16 lane PCIE 5 for GPU
* Case - Need mesh front, good airflow, dust filters. Unsure if I should go for full ATX for accommodating future big GPUs or I should get mid ATX case and later if required just buy a new case with future GPU.
* CPU cooler- Whats the official recommended CPU cooler for 9800x3d? Air or AIO liquid cooler? How often AIO requires maintenance?
* Case fans - Whats the best choice? Buy fans separately from case? Do cases already comes with case fan?
* PSU - Looking for fully modular and ATX 3.x. Should I go with 850W or 1000W? Does gold, silver certification matter?
* SSD - looking for 1TB SSD. How does SSD specs impact PCVR gaming. I have another Samsung 860 1 TB SATA SSD lying around for media.

hints - choose motherboard and then pick ram that has been tested to work with it. Choosing ram first can end badly. Not all motherboards work with all ram.

I wouldn't worry about Wifi 7 unless you intend to update all your other equipment to use it.
If you plan on a big GPU, buy the big case now. Lets you grow into it and saves money.

CPU Cooler - There isn't an official cooler for the CPU.
I seen the 9800x3d used with a low profile air cooler, so it seems its heat really isn't that high.

If you get AIO I would get a 360. I only have a 5800x3d but its helped it more than a 240 did.

what air cooler you get can depend on ram clearance and the case you pick.

case fans - can depend on case, some do come with fans but they are often DC 3 pin fans that don't allow for speed changes, you almost better off buying a case with no fans and buying 4 pin PWM fans so you can more easily adjust fan speeds.

I don't know if ssd help vr, I do know that you don't need a PCIe 5 one as the speed differences in loading isn't noticeable between that and PCIe3 nvme.

I don't know what power requirements will be for a 5080. I would get a 1kw PSU as it gives you room to move, never know what else you may add to build later.

That RAM you have chosen is geared towards Intel (XMP 3.0). Look for a set of RAM that's AMD EXPO certified.

This board down below allows you to update the bios with a USB flash drive without having to install the cpu & RAM. The best flash drive for that use is the FAT32.
