Has a content warning ever steered you away from a game?

No Spoilers!

Normally stuff doesn't bother me, but I was going through some things back when Doki Doki Literature Club first came out. Their content warning had me quite worried. I started playing the game, but quit when a certain fact was revealed. I knew exactly what was going to happen (thanks to the content warning) and quit playing.

The article on PCG about Boyfriend Dungeon and people complaining about its content warning got me thinking about this. Do you ever even pay attention to the content warning? I find myself using it now to weed out the pornographic games (not against it. just can't play them with kids in the house). Have you ever not played a game because of the content warning?

I have never seen one. Maybe I just don't play games that have them. Or if they did, I just ignored it. Or do you just mean age ratings as once again, I ignored them... probably because I was over them before I ever saw my first PC game.

For much of my game buying life there were no warnings at all, I can remember buying PC games in early 00's and not having any clue what game was, just buying based on what box looked like. Internet has made that easier to point I don't buy anything now and mostly just watch other people play games and decide if I want to or not... much of the time its not. Cheaper and easier to watch someone who knows what they are doing.

Not content warning specifically, but I've excluded all games tagged horror from the Steam store pages / recommendations.

NSFW games on there are ignored by default too I believe, unless you turn them back on, so I'd say you're covered there.

i had originaly blocked a steam tag around the word 'sex' i think,im completely nonsexual and i can seem to others to be very childish when based on this topic as it makes me feel like,YUCK! plus i have no interest in it- ive mentioned it on my intro post before but i have learning (intelectual) disability and severe classic autism- this does flavour how i react to any input-such as sex stuff and my own sexuality (or lack of).
one time my sister emailed me about a show starting on netflix back then called sex eduation-she told me,'i know its not your kind of thing but go with it,its really cool',a number of seconds in and it...well,it isnt a summery field with julie andrews in it singing thats for sure,i thought with gillian anderson being a main character it might be a bit xfiles like...but no. i hadnt processed the name of the show firstly which sounds stupid now.
i had to take the steam tag block off to see the latest reviews of cyberpunk 2077 and to see if it had been improved to any degree, plus if the ridiculous price had been dropped,my laptop woudnt be able to run the game anyway i was just interested if they were pricing things fairly yet and that was answered quickly with no.

I actually had anything that contained the word "rogue" in it blocked, like roguelite, for instance. But now every game is a roguelike or rougelite, so I had to get rid of it. Plus, a lot of games are miscategorized, anyway. A lot of indie developers know that saying they are roguelike will get them a few sales, so they add it whether it really is or not.

You don't need to remove a tag block to get to a game's page. Just enter the game in the Search box and it may show as a selection. If not, it should show above the main list of games with something like "Game ABC and 478 other games have been omitted based on your preferences"—just click on the game name there.
