I've put a good 10 hours or so into Deus Ex: Revision over the past week and I've been having a blast. I replay this game almost every year, but for some reason this time around I decided that I'm going to do a violent playthrough. I'm fully stocked on ammo, guns and grenades, and I'm not afraid to use them!
In doing things differently than I normally would, I'm seeing lots of new dialogue I haven't seen before. For instance, Paul's killswitch gets activated, and he wants to meet in his apartment in New York. He tells you to leave through the window which is what I always do. However, if you stay behind and help him fight the Majestic 12 agents and leave through the front, he will remain alive. That is an entirely new storyline I never saw before! The fight was very hard, it took me a good couple of LAM grenades to clear them out, but eventually we left the apartment building and I met up with him again in Hong Kong.
I also was able to get Alex and Jaime from UNATCO to join me in Hong Kong as well. I'm certain I've brought at least Alex back to HK with me, but what I didn't realize is that you can meet up with both of them in Tracer Tong's lab.
I've played Deus Ex and Revision for probably a good 100 hours total in the 15 or so years I've been playing this game. I must have been on autopilot most of that time because I have no idea how I've missed these details. You really need to pay attention to the story and take time to explore every area to find these hidden details, and it's so rewarding when you do. Talking to Paul, Alex and Jaime in HK nets you an achievement in Revision which is neat.
I think for the longest time, I really just liked this game for the cyberpunk aesthetics and worldbuilding. I didn't pay too close attention to the story and minor details in this game, but this time around I'm leaving no stone unturned. Erm, actually, I forgot to meet up with Smuggler before leaving for HK and he gets killed because of that. But the rest of the stones, they're all getting turned.
