If you pronounce it "nube", does it make a difference to you if it is spelled "newb"? This is the way I do it, "nube" for 'noob' and "newbie" for 'newb'.

What if it is plural like in the title of the post?

According to the dictionary, those are the same, "nude" and "boom" have the same vowel sound, though some people say "nude" as "nyew-d" where the "n" is soft and flows into the vowel.

Now if you are speaking in one of the many UK accents, well I can't cover all of those in a poll. Maybe I should have said, are there one or two vowel sounds? Or one or two syllables?

Where I come from its noob like boob, rude or brood. Not like tube or stewed. And certainly not like stood.

In many ways Finnish is a lot more simple.

I do pronounce newb different than noob. Newb is like nyewb and noob is like boob, though with a less pronounced "b" at the end, making it sound almost like a "p".

Plural doesn't matter.

I got called noob alot when i would play Soilder of Fortune on my 56k internet. I think that game had voice chat so I learned how the Kool kids pronounced it.

Yeah, you needed to clarify between /nuːb/ and /njuːb/. Should have used IPA notation really!

As for the different spellings question, I think I'd usually say “n00b” = /nuːb/, “newb” = /njuːb/, and “newbie” = /ˈnjuːbi/. (My accent is Standard British with Mancunian influence.)
