Oh look

its still downloading so pressing play wouldn't work

its only 92gb, but game requires 150 so maybe its compressed.

Xbox controller charged up. Ready

Wonder if it will be Midnight on 20th, guess I look then.

Greyed out, can't do anything now.

Probably a good thing as Steam is saying the download will take about 9 hours.

I've only ever gotten a Twitch drop once, it was a few cosmetics for PUBG back in 2017-2018 I believe. I never watch streams, but I think I'll do this because it's free cosmetics. I wonder if they are exclusive to Twitch drops too. I think I can just have it running in the background and I'll still get them.

9 am, thats about same time Diablo 3 opened. Not going to sit up all night waiting for it to tick over.

Instead I just have same sleep pattern as today and wake at 6am instead.

Still have to wait for the day one patch I guess. They could have pre loaded that as well

Its weird, I didn't have auto arrange icons clicked in windows so when i looked at the desktop and showed icons (I don't normally show them, they ruin backgrounds) I couldn't see icon for this game. It had put it in bottom right of screen

I thought steam games went in common/game folder... when I look at the folder now its empty

all the others have files in them. Is that cause its pre loaded or is it copy protection or anti cheat?

Steam now showing I didn't download it?? It took 2 hours yesterday and now its showing as an unscheduled download of 92gb and steam showing the folder is empty.

storms today, i will have to download it again lol

I had that problem with Counter Strike 2. I downloaded 50gb or something and the next time I turned on my PC, Steam decided that I had to start again.

That's very strange. I wonder if it's just pre-load protection? Not sure how all of that really works, honestly. I'll check my PC when I get home.

No, its cause its a Pre load

Decryption/Extraction Failure: Preloads are encrypted. When the game becomes ready to play, Steam must extract them. If this process crashes or fails, Steam may default to showing "Install" again.

I won't do anything now until 9am and see what happens 🙂

I assume its stored in another folder until then. Probably is compressed... I was just curious about install size and 0kb wasn't the answer I expected after downloading it for two hours.

Just a guess, but I suspect they can't pre load the day one patch until the game is actually installed on the PC. It probably happens with most games. I am not normally this early...

I really should have looked at what game is before buying lol. Its a graphics test for me lol.

Wonder when Adrenaline drivers release, wonder if that news was real.

They do mention it has a lot of MMO DNA, which makes me less excited to play. I doubt I'm going to pick this up any time soon.

I was hoping to have my monitor before i got game... but that is unlikely now. Sick of waiting... sick of checking every day...

So I can get a before and after of how it looks I guess.

Weather been fine, now it picks next two days to be stormy...

100% sure this is the type of game for me, and the reviewers I trust have said it's a must-buy if you actually know what you are getting into, aka not IGN giving it a 6/10.

its too late to read reviews once you bought it... though I guess there is a return window but I don't think I will.

I find out what type of game it is, tomorrow... I guess.

Probably sleep past its release time. No rush, just need to decrypt it now. And download the 48gb day one patch, fixes frame gen problems

if I had been observant, the unscheduled area showed I had downloaded it, I just hadn't seen that area before and missed that fact.

That day-one patch addressed some issues that critics were having issues with so that's good. Also for the PC performance improvements, I watched a video that tested 40 GPUs performance. They did not mention whether or not it was before or after the patch, I assume before since the video came out just yesterday. My RX 9060 XT was showing an average of 72FPS 1080p with Cinematic mode on, native. I wonder if that will be any better now with the patch.

Either way no use in speculating, the main point is performance seems to be amazing in this game. They did amazing work nailing optimization. Tom's Hardware has a cool article about how the game almost perfectly scales performance to various CPUs:

So TH decided that since the 9850x3d exists now, mine doesn't? I guess its performance is pretty similar to point its just an Overclocked version... grumbles 🙂

The Hardware Unboxed video mostly about Nvidia settings but did mention FSR a few times. I might look at their settings if I have any problems but game should run okay natively.

the 40 GPU video was before day one patch... I linked it before.

I would be very happy if I could get high (with DLSS on quality) on most settings and squeeze out stable 60FPS on my RTX 3070/AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. I also don't think you really need much more than 60FPS in this kind of RPG game, to be honest. I even played The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom without noticing much stuttering and that game I played on a 40'inch screen while having 30FPS. Could also be my brain is so slow to calibrate what I see, I don't notice frame drops🤔
