Crimson Desert Discussion (minor spoilers)

Another quick tip to get some quick cash: Red Seaweed sells for a decent amount. Your reputation with the trader decides how much you can sell for, but at +50 reputation with Rhett in Hernand (the armor and weapons trader, you will have this level of rep if you completed his request), I was able to sell them for 49 bronze each. You can find Red Seaweed along most beach coasts. I spent about 15 minutes running up and down the coast by the Steel Mountains and was able to get 27 of them. 49 Bronze x 27 Red Seaweed = 13.23 Silver, not bad for such little work. You get anywhere between 1-5 Red Seaweed at a time, so it's not hard to get a decent amount of them.

Also about the reputation thing, try giving gifts to traders to increase it. They seem to have some sort of preference, Rhett really liked the soups I gave him and another trader only accepted copper pouches. Greeting them gives you +5 rep, gifting items gives anywhere between +5 to +20 rep per item. Apparently they can also have unique items in their shop if you max it out, but I haven't gotten a trader to +100 reputation yet.

I threw in a minor spoiler in the thread title, so any new eyes on the thread or those who wish no spoilers can more casually talk about the game in general discussion. I think it's better to do this instead of putting spoiler tags around here.

@neogunhero Been drooling for those horse accessories since then my whole set (including the banner) will have a blue color) I really hope there will be transmog in the game, since I would love to be able to hold on to some of the item looks. Diablo 3 and 4 did this well, so hopefully they have borrowed that idea.

Horsy looking stylish now. Have to get another dye for my boots though, looks horrible thanks to the dye quest!🙄

I got just a little bit of time to play last night, will have longer tonight and this weekend. I saw a video where someone suggested doing the quests for your camp as soon as you can, so I started a few of them. So far I've just been donating resources hoping to see where it goes. No physical changes yet, but I sure am out of a ton of money and food. I've been raiding bandit camps, looting everything they have, then donating pretty much all of it to the camp. Still in Chapter 3 so that could be an issue also.

I just saw that you're doing that quest too in your screenshot Frindis 🤣

@neogunhero Been gifting and donating sooo much! I got a house I can decorate, so that is cool, but I'm poor, so the house will look extremely minimalistic for a while. There is also this weird card game costing 15 silver that I messed up when I tried it because of accusing someone of cheating (I was just testing it out) and now I have another quest at the same card game. I dunno, think I'll wait for that one until I am rich

I also need to get the wagon selling going on, but I don't have the right level to craft one, so that is slightly annoying.

I killed the Quarry boss; he did not stand a chance against my cold steel look.

Challenge for you @neogunhero: Get on top of this from the outside. Only climbing allowed

I actually went up there because I just didn't get what I was supposed to do with the quest, so I thought that I'd just cheese it, but that didn't work. Found the way eventually, but it kind of took me by surpise I had to use mechanics from the Uncharted/Lara Croft series, instead of you know, actually using my skills!

@Frindis Is that up in the Abyss? I haven't been there since the first main mission puzzle up there. I'll definitely teleport and see if I can get up to that point by only climbing. Just know, I've upgraded my stamina a ton, I can climb for a very long time 🤣

Speaking of teleporting, I found out that fast traveling is a lot faster when standing on one of the fast travel platforms. Makes you wish that fast traveling when not standing on the platform was a bit faster. It's near instant when on the platform.

It's the tower in the snow area. You get a quest to go up the tower at the start of Act 4.

I need to do that also because I would like to get that dash skill for the wing form to traverse the sky better, but it uses a lot of stamina.

I wonder how that works coding-wise, like, should it really be that much difference if you are just standing one centimeter away from the fast travel point? Kind of makes me wonder if it is just a gimmick and something they could have just implemented to go faster elsewhere also, if not as fast, but..faster?

@neogunhero I came upon this silver-earning method while killing scarlet bandits (those with the red hood), and each mask nets a decent amount of silver. You get one mask in around 15-30 kills of them, but if you do the House Roberts faction quest to kill The Crimson Nightmare, there are several fortifications with tons of these bandits and they keep respawning also. I guess they stop when you kill the boss there, so I have just decided to wait with that quest since it is not a main quest and just use it for a grind spot.

Even your pet got up there! I forgot you have tons of stamina, so you probably just climb it all in one take. I had to take a lot of breathers, probably 30+ years of chain smoking did not help.

Been doing camp missions, trying to get more people in camp, and finally I am crafting my first wagon. I look forward to some recreational wagon trailing selling goods here and there.

Big patch just dropped that addressed a bunch of major issues. Main ones: Keys now have an interact button, fast travel is now quicker, lower stamina usage while gliding and you no longer lose speed as you're opening the glider, a bunch of control improvements, cooking UI is a bit simpler, visual and performance improvements, tons tons more. Very happy about this patch.

And they gave me a participation reward 😀

Refinement Tokens are a new item:

  • Added the "Refinement Coin" item. With this item, equipment can be tempered up to Stage 4 without consuming any additional materials. Refinement Coins can be obtained from certain main and faction quests.

The new update finally has the game in a really great spot, most of my major complaints have been addressed. The glider works so much better now. You can actually get some distance with it. I also like not having my rep go down when stealing without being caught. Fast travel has been cut down by just a few seconds but it's definitely noticeable.

Sprinting is a bit different now, you tap once to run, then tap again to sprint. You have the occasionally keep hitting the run button, almost like on horseback but not quite as often, and you even seem to run faster than before overall.

I'm STILL exploring Hernand after nearly 30 hours... grinding Abyss Artifacts and fast travel points. Occasionally I find myself in a spot with very overpowered enemies, so I have an idea of which areas I need to be better prepared before I try to fight.

Speaking of, I did the quarry fight finally and man, what a blast! Literally! F'ing explosive barrels everywhere!! I kept dying because I'd accidentally hit one then fly 50 feet off the cliff. It was extremely fun fighting hundreds of enemies at once. After the fight, when you use the crane the lift the artifact block, there is a secret cave under it with 3 Palmar Pills. Thank goodness!

I got access to the Shai children village finally. What a beautiful and whimsical area, I need to take some screenshots over there. I found another dyer, and that's when I realized the dye shops are all unique. Each dye shop does unique colors and even unique materials to give your gear a different finish. The only colors I have across all three dye shops I've found is red, green and yellow. Still looking for a blue. From the village I spotted a massive spire, I travelled over there and immediately got to climbing.

This climb was quite tough even with my level 8/14 stamina, not many places to catch a breath:
