I had my first MicroCenter experience in Dallas the other day and it was amazing! I went Friday night so it was absolutely packed, so I didn't get a ton of time to peruse at my leisure. I was this close to picking up a 1440p monitor but decided against it at the last minute. I can wait until after Christmas. This location seems a bit smaller than others I've seen online, but it was still an awesome experience regardless. The coolest thing was seeing a Nvidia DGX Spark in person, $3,999 though...

It's like Mecca!! Reminds me of being a kid and going to places like Circuit City, CompUSA, etc. Just awesome.

I'm lucky enough to live 10-minutes from one, so I try to go over there frequently instead of ordering stuff off Amazon. Even when I don't need the salespeople's help, since they work on commission, I like to just ask if they wanna put their little commission sticker on whatever I'm buying.

It really is like that. It felt like a religious experience. Me and the hundreds of other people were there for one reason and one reason only: computer parts. This guy overheard me speaking to my sister about the new GPU I just got and we struck up a conversation about it, I almost sounded like an employee myself. I think I convinced him to upgrade from his GTX 1080.

It really is something special when the only "electronics" store in a 50-mile radius from my house is Walmart.

Maybe that foot brace could be a new type of shoe trend. Could call it something like Brace Crocs™©
They are really just over protective sandals and you would need to make them water proof as the sides are all foam - the plastic bag is needed to take showers in them but I expect most people would take them off.

Not sure how stable they would be if you wore two of them.

Sleeping in them takes some practice.

It was coldest December morning on record here today... 0C. Now before you say anything like... thats not even close... remember its Summer here. In theory anyway... doesn't really get hot until January. Its meant to be 38c in Sydney this week, that is more normal for this time of year.

I guess I don't share the same affinity for getting really excited looking at a small black box that costs $4000, but can't even play video games. I guess that means I'm more gamer than tech geek, oh well.
I'm no AI fanatic or anything, but it just seemed like a piece of fabled tech that only touches the hands of the likes of Elon Musk and whatnot. Seeing it person just made me think, anyone can buy this thing? Nvidia hyped it up like it was some legendary piece of hardware that only the richest of people could use. It was just sitting there on a desk with an anti-theft magnetic strap attached to it. I also honestly like the outer design of it. That rough, rocky gold front plate is really cool to me, it would be neat to have that type of finish on a normal sized PC case.

Nvidia pretty much over hypes everything they come out with, especially the software features in their drivers, many of which are often problematic. Don't get me wrong, overall I'm more satisfied with my Nvidia GPUs than I was with the AMD ones I've had, even though I was very disappointed they let ShadowPlay bugs pretty much kill that feature. I'd MUCH rather see AMD be more competitive in the GPU market though, because the current situation is allowing Nvidia to charge whatever prices they want.

Got through the Dentist putting the crown on my tooth today. The anesthetic finally wore off though and now I feel like I've been punched in the teeth multiple times. Not loving that.
I've had 3 crowns done total and I've never experienced that. I also go to dental clinics of places that have multiple locations and do both dental and medical, vs the one off dental locations. We DO have pretty good dental and doctor services where I live though.

I can't imagine Colorado being short on dental pros though, so I have to ask, are your teeth just overly sensitive?

Yeah, not entirely sure what happened. I've had plenty of Crowns, but this one was in the very back on the bottom, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I also had them hit me with some more anesthetic, as well as having had an anti-anxiety med beforehand, which I don't typically need. After all of it, I ended-up passing out for 2 hours at home. Unusual, because I very rarely ever nap.

Foot hated me last night, I couldn't work out why but I know now.
I had a doctors appointment yesterday as they wanted to do Xrays to compare against the previous weeks, as part of process they wanted me to stand on my foot which is something I was told not to do.
I had to take my boot off and neither I nor nurse had done that before, so we did as best we could.
But we didn't put one part in right - the boots came with 4 foam pads that can be put in for added comfort. I am only using one of them right now. I think the nurse put it in but down near my toes, not near my ankle, and either bending my foot or the added pressure on toes was creating a lot of pain last night when I was trying to sleep. Big toe was very painful.

I could see the sock under the layers on shoe, that seemed wrong so I loosened the straps that hold it all together today and moved the foam pad up to cover top of my foot where it meets my ankle.
The boot fits better now too, I noticed it was loose yesterday after we got back from hospital but blamed that on a new sock we had put on... now its a solid block on my leg now.
Foot is back to being happy again

Foot is black and bruised with a lot of red everywhere. I hadn't seen it for a week or so. We put a soft sock my brother had bought 14 years ago when he broke his ankle and had to wear a boot.

I hate when members of my online communities disappear and you never know why. I'm leaving in moments for the hospital. I believe that I am in the process of having a major heart incident. If everything turns out alright, I'll let you know. If not...well...nothing I suppose.

I told them to give me ten minutes I had to finish my backlog :p

Dont know what to say, the very best of luck and hope everything turns out better than you expect. Youve been missed around here.

Feels weird liking this post, but good luck and get well soon. Hopefully nothing super serious and you'll be back here soon.

Well, today I was running one of my portable heaters, then started-up my air fryer, which ended-up tripping one of the breakers. Problem is, this particular circuit is what my computer is on in my office; normally this isn't an issue, as I have a UPS on my computer.

This time was different though, my UPS was making a very unusual noise after the breaker tripped and it refused to turn off. Trying to get it to turn off, I heard a pop and a sizzle, which immediately made me think my PSU in my PC blew. I started smelling that acrid burning electronics smell, so I got everything disconnected.

Upon further inspection, luckily it was just the UPS that blew and my PC is fine. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to plug my PC directly into the wall or even to a basic surge protector, so I'm going to need to wait until we can spend the $200 on a new UPS until I can use my PC/Server again. It'll probably be a few weeks, as we just spent a combined $1100 this past week, as our plumbing backed-up and then the spring on our garage door split in half.

Since I like to sit in my office and paint most days, I think I'll setup my laptop to plug in to all the components and just have that as my desktop for the next few weeks. Kind of wishing I had a dock now!

Zed sent me same message on Steam. 9 hours ago, hope he okay. Having spent time waiting in hospitals myself recently, I know its too soon to know anything

Because its easier to eat in the kitchen with my foot than try to juggle a plate on my knee scooter, I ate at Kitchen table just now. And realised... I can't remember last time I sat at the table in kitchen and ate a meal. I know its not at current table/kitchen design as we had it redesigned 15 years or so ago. I always preferred to watch TV while I ate, that just morphed into using PC. I been in house 60 years so it could be at least 40 years.

Getting to kitchen and realising you have the wrong glasses on is normally not so bad. Simple things take more effort when you riding a knee scooter everywhere

Our carpet isn't liking the wheel action but it was cheap carpet to begin with. Not our choice, insurance agency after a flood (bathroom redesign gone wrong) destroyed our old carpet.

Returning just to tell us that and then leave again... thats just odd.

I seem to randomly find myself in the windows Magnifier and I only just found out what it was that was happening... I don't click Win key and the + key consciously... only seems to happen when I am in steam too. I blame Slormancer, it acts strange some days... doesn't like alt tab. Or maybe my GPU.

Summer arrived, it was 29c at Midnight last night... but only felt like 22 so not that bad. I forgot to go to sleep lol

Replace that C with an F and that's how cold it's been here in the Ouachita mountains lately. Been good for my PC but not me. Taking the dogs out early in the morning and late in the evening is torture, my dogs love to sniff every blade of grass possible while I stand there about to turn into a popsicle.

I could be wrong, but I think there is a way to completely disable the Magnifier in accessibility settings, it shouldn't come up even with the keyboard combo. Strange that it just keeps popping up for you.
