Does your IQ increase with age or does it degrade with age? and what is the use of having IQ results?

IQ is relative to other people of your age and typically does not change as you age.

Your IQ results give some indication of how smart you are. Or at least how good your abstract logic is. A result of 125 means you're "smarter" than 95% of the people of your age. There's no real reason why an employer would need to do IQ tests though, especially not multiple ones, unless they're really worried about cognitive decline.

LMAO I am assuming the school gets a "Kickback" from the test centre hence everyone (Teachers, Aids and Tutors) had to get tested. About 40 of us.

Smarter than? Results must be cooked then. I am the person that forgets names and need students to show me how to use Instagram (which I still do not understand just as a side note). I was just wondering what it is for and why it would be a requirement and also if it is "handy" to me (personally) in any way. I paid for the test so thought maybe it is worth something to me.

"Smart" and "stupid" cover so many things, the words are almost useless now*. If anything goes wrong with your thinking process, it gets counted as stupid. It could be memory, ignorance, ignorance because you learned differently 50 years ago and have since forgotten, not taking the time to think through all the possibilities, not thinking of all the possibilities, not being able to keep all the factors in your head at the same time, and on and on.

Then we take it another step and pretend all of these factors are really one factor - being "smart" or "stupid." If you're good at one, you're good at all of them. If you're bad at one, you're bad at all of them. Hence, different people will be convinced that you're "smart" while others will be certain that you're "stupid" - all in the same day!

And then there's still another silly step - turning it around. Hey, I'm not stupid! I can remember the name of every kid in grade school still at age 50, can you? No?? Well then, I'm smarter than you so I'm right and you're wrong! <facepalm>

An IQ test measures a pretty small part of 'smartness.' It gives you every bit of information you need to solve the problem, so you don't have to figure out what is and isn't relevant. You also know that there IS a way to get to an answer, which you don't always get in the wild. The information is all delivered at once and placed in front of you, so if you forget any bits, it's right there to read again. They keep as far away as they can from anything controversial, so you don't have to worry about personal prejudices getting in the way. This is all stuff you have to deal with when thinking through issues outside of a test environment.

* except when you need to call a game stupid because it made you mad. That's TOTALY appropriate!

Had to take a trip to Detroit mid-week because my father-in-law had to go to the hospital because one of his heart valves was leaking (hes doing fine now). Her mother has MS so noone was there most of the day to take care of her, her RN only comes for 2 hours every other day so had to go there for a couple days to help out which is fine.

Trip was easy enough because i can drive through Canada to Detroit, making the trip roughly 4 1/2-5 hours with stopping for food which is better than the 8-9 going through the states.

I brought my switch but, tbh i didnt have much interest in using it even if i bought the new Shinobi for it, i feel it would have been different had i had a steam deck, so thats probably going to be a purchase coming up.

I woke up at 6 AM today to watch the Leonides meteor swarm with my kid. We could see the part of the sky from our balcony, but there's quite a lot of light pollution there and my wife and I ended up seeing only one shooting star and I'm not sure my daughter saw any. Hopefully we'll have more luck with the Geminids next month, which should have 10x the amount of meteors.

One thing I did notice was how many satellites I saw. I haven't really looked up at the stars for years, but now it seems there is at least 1 satellite visible at any time.

Small little tip for online shopping this holiday season. Some of you may know this already but I just found out about it. It could also be a US only issue, I'm not sure.

I'm sick of looking for something online on Amazon, Walmart or the like, and my searches come up with a sea of cheap looking products from random, unknown brands. They have weird names like FEEL2NICE, MAILESI, KIYODA or PRAKIE. Often something that makes no sense, written in all caps, sold from China. A lot of times you want a more recognizable brand, usually just for peace of mind, but it's hard when they're swimming in a sea of these cheap brands.

If you change the search filters under the "Seller", "Retailer" or "Sold By" tab and change it to the store you're on, most times this results in much better searches from reputable, known brands. For example, "Sold By: Amazon" or "Retailer: Walmart". I found this to be true mostly for electronics of any kind.

When searching for monitors, I came across so many random Chinese brands that I wouldn't trust to last very long. After changing the search filter, it comes up with well-known gaming and tech brands instead.

The issue is these stores have become "marketplaces" where anyone with a seller account could sell pretty much whatever. They hope you don't care about the brand and just buy the product. My thought process is that these brands can be more dangerous especially when it comes to electronics. I've seen far too many videos of cheap Chinese portable chargers exploding their lithium-ion batteries. I'd put my trust in a globally recognized brand than something called OHOVIV or AURYHNTHRA.
