Problem is they are from almost 50 years ago now. We used to have wars in the backyard, beats doing it on a table... dad had written up rules of engagement and we used die to work out the results.

The end of this showed some we had - never had any motorised ones, I didn't know they existed.
we had (from video)
  1. AMX 30
  2. M 47 Patton
  3. Tiger I (both models, they have a Black one and a desert one)
  4. Jagdpanther (might have had the 2 different colors, can't remember)
  5. Sherman M4 (with a bent barrel, well... ours did)
  6. M10 Tank Destroyer
  7. Panther
  8. PZ 4 (maybe)

We also had a Dinky version of this

Mystery of my course answered, another week of questions showed up but no new reading materials which was different. Already answered two of the questions but rest can wait until daytime... its only 1.30am on Monday morning after all.
One needs an audio recording so I will have to arrange a day for my brother to help me with that. Probably on the weekend. It says it could be a video also but I will be fine, audio is easier.
He gets easy part, his lines already prepared... I have to fill in the gaps. Its pretty easy, I use his answers to work out what I should ask.

Week 3's questions did seem a little too easy to be the last part of a unit. This makes more sense. Would have been nice to know I needed a recording before now but as I said, they pretty easy.

(accidentally presses Win Key + W and notices the widgets show on right side of desktop now)

If I was clever(er) I'd do the same for my kids. Although, I don't think they're there yet at their ages, they can barely pay attention to anything long enough. I did teach my oldest Battletech Alpha Strike and it was fun, but definitely part of the game is keeping him focused on what's happening at the table.

@BeardyHat That set-up is astonishing. No wonder you'd rather play in person.

Thanks! Yeah, it makes a difference. One of the thing I like about this particular game is that it trends towards realism (with plenty of gamey stuff in it) as far as tables go and it makes it more fun to setup something asymmetrical that looks like it could be an actual place.

I was setting up my DAC and it asked me if I was in the EU. I said 'no', and for some reason it explained itself by saying that if I were in the EU it would have limited the volume.

Tell your mother to it's none of her business how loud you play your music.

This is one of the most maddening things about my phone and it's completely inconsistent to boot.

I usually listen to stuff on my phone when it's plugged in to something else with a separate volume control, so I crank the phone all the way up and then keep the volume on whatever device at a reasonable volume. Helps cut down on static.

But I'll be listening to something and then suddenly, Android is f***ing nannying me and turns the volume down to the point I can't hear it. So if I'm listening to a podcast, I need to pause it, go to my phone and adjust the volume back up, where it gives me a warning about listening to it too loud. But again, doesn't do it all the time, just seemingly at random, so I don't know who they're trying to appease. But it's especially obnoxious when I'm driving...

Which is also something I could complain about, the Nanny devices in cars these days. No, do not yank the wheel from my control because you think I'm drifting into the other lane. No, do not beep loudly and slam on the brakes for me because I'm trying to park.

I need to keep my vehicle fleet going as long as I can so I don't have to buy a new car...

Deer lowered (dear lord), CoPilot just recommended that I put diluted hydrogen peroxide into my ears. There is almost no level of hydrogen peroxide safe for the ears. It has to be extremely diluted or you could cause permanent hearing damage or even complete deafness.

Where's the facepalm reaction!?

can any Discord users confirm or deny if they get this menu if they left click their avatars in the app.

I don't recall ever being able to set times for idle, or Do Not Disturb or Invisible, before.
And google is no help as it says Discord can't do it... which is funny when I am looking at it.

I don't know if its a Nitro feature or I am just early due to being 18 hours ahead of most people.

Could be experimental as I found this on reddit - link - where someone had it and then it was taken away.

I don't feel like trying to remember my password right now, but I can confirm that if anything else is added to Discord that it will become a gravitational singularity and destroy the solar system.

So X banned India from their payments system due to scamming. Its so unlike India to be involved in fakery...

Honest Indian Citizens need to fix the portion of their population who make the rest of us question the authenticity of any posts made by people from there. Otherwise they will have payments systems they rely on suddenly not work anymore.

Lovely day here today. Grey skies, raining all day and a nice chill in the air at 45*F.

Perhaps today is a good day to die.

At least, for wasps. Ran to the hardware store and picked-up some foaming wasp killer and completely annihilated two medium sized, under construction nests and numerous other small ones they were building under my eves on my back patio.

Hopefully this stuff works as advertised, as I'd like to see these guys gone for awhile, so my kids will be less freaked out to play outside. Also got some wasp traps hang up around the yard.

They often start nests inside my grill, which I find amusing. So far, they've escaped with their lives the three out of four times I've preheated the grill, but I'm always trying to catch them unawares.

One of the first days it got warm here I went to the bathroom and there was a gigantic wasp sitting on the wall. All I wanted to do was to go to the bathroom, instead I had to do a mob fight first.

The boss fights are with the yellow jackets who build nests in my lawn and then chase you around and sting you any time you get the lawnmower near them. They are at least super easy to defeat so long as you don't mind pouring a couple cups of gasoline in a hole after sunset. If you go the insecticide route, things get less easy.

Usually when I find em in the house, I grab the vacuum cleaner. The handheld vac is great for that, then I just let em die in there, as I figure they'll just try to sting me if I dump em out.

We pretty much just get Paper Wasps here; they build nests in fairly obvious places. I usually see little nests that don't go anywhere, so I was surprised to see two fairly sizeable ones. I'm glad I got em today, but I am a little worried they're not dead and will get pissy when I knock the nests down tomorrow, so I'll wait until it's a little colder in the evening. I also bought some spray foam to seal up the big gaps in my awning, to stop them going in there.

Had an electrician out today to take a look at the outlets in my office, as they're pretty finicky, he went ahead and replaced them all. But more importantly, I asked his advice on doing a cable run and got some good info to get me going when I'm ready! I think I mentioned, but I got three "new" (Used, a few years old) AP's to tie into my network and put around the house, but had no idea how I was going to do one from the second floor. He mentioned I can just follow a return or register and it should be fairly easy; my wife conveniently remembered there's one into the attic in near the bathroom we just redid a few years ago, she'd found it when she tore out the walls.

Still means I'll need to crawl up into my attics, but I feel like I have a solid idea now. Now I need to find my jacks for the ends of my CAT6 and I need to actually teach myself how to punch down a CAT6 into said jacks...can't be that hard, right?

At least you can get into your attic. The best I can do is stick my head up there because the door is too small. Either that or I'm too big, but it's just one of those squares cut into the ceiling in the master bedroom, but I have really broad/wide shoulders unrelated to my weight, which is fine right now. Even at my best weight, I have to turn partially sideways to get through most of the doors in my house, but most of the doors aren't actually standard size, and I don't think the attic door is either, so it's more of a house thing than a me thing.

I never even noticed the door thing until one night my wife said, "Walk through that door again," and pointed out that I was turning as I went through.

I have a story about practically falling through an attic and having to redo the kitchen ceiling in friend's house. They were turning their large attic into a living space. I went up there to look at it, and it was just about finished. They needed to put flooring down, but there were no beams showing. My friend didn't say anything about part of the floor being just drywall. :ROFLMAO:I took a shortcut to the kitchen.

I didn't actually fall all the way through, but one leg went through all the way to my knee. Must have looked interesting from below, but no one was in the kitchen at the time.

Remembered a funny story while listening to my insomnia playlist. When Guido was born, his sister (Brian dubbed her Elly May) had just turned 2. And when we brought Guido home from the hospital is Elly May's oldest memory. I was carrying baby Guido in his carrier and set him down in front of Elly May, which is when she saw him for the first time. For reasons that she can't explain, she was expecting that we were bringing home a baby hippopotamus. She took one look at Guido then, disappointed, slugged him right in the face.

I've always thought it was funny that the first thing that happened when my kids met was that one of them punched the other in the face. Apparently, being so young, she didn't have a lot of force behind her swing, and Guido was only two days old, so he couldn't have his feelings hurt, and he didn't even cry.

Other than that, I don't even remember them ever having a single argument, though I know they must have at some point. They are light years closer than I am with any of my siblings and are sharing an apartment in college, so she seems to have gotten over her initial disappointment :)

Bought ram for new PC on Saturday night and the website used the processing system for the bank my credit card is with. It offered two choices for verification:
  1. SMS
  2. Email
I chose SMS and it didn't send me a code. I have been here before with their system, it often doesn't give me a code.
I chose an option to go backwards to previous page and picked email. I got the email and entered the code. Payment appeared to work. It showed as fully paid on order.

Monday night I was looking at my bank account and noticed a red warning saying my account was restricted. I had to answer some questions before they would open it up. It asked me to install the banks app on my phone, which I did... that app then asked for 2 forms of ID I don't have. It also said If you don't have them, to go to a branch and give them what you do.

I went to bank the next day and explained it was their system causing the problem. I also showed them the ID they required, and they said it should be fixed now.
Next day I try to use my card at local shops and its rejected... I also noticed that on their website I couldn't transfer any money to other people to pay bills, there was no account attached from my end.

The red warning had said it could take 3 days to clear, so I was going to give them till Friday to unfreeze me.
I looked today and it seems to have been fixed now. I transfered some cash to my mum to test it and only difference is now it wants verification for every transfer but luckily I always got the sms if the bank sent them, its just if I bought something it might not work.

Glad that is fixed, I intend to spend way more next week buying the parts for my new PC. Probably a good thing it messed up now. And not next week.

My mom brought over my dad's old office computer yesterday. Now I'll have to find a way to connect it to a screen, as the only output it has is VGA and my screens only accept HDMI or DP.

I have no idea what's in it or if I can realistically use it for anything, but at least I'll have something to do this weekend.

I am glad mums monitor has HDMI out or we would have similar when I give her mine. At least I know where a HDMI cable is for her to use. Though it won't be long enough to reach. I need to buy two long USB extension cables so I just add the hdmi one to list. That or we rearrange her room.
Her PC only has VGA out as well. Worst part is its only 7 years old. Dell... why?

her PC is 3 years newer than my last one but was still slower.
it had half the ram and a hdd, that didn't help.

If everything works as I hope in the next few weeks she won't have that problem again. Although her pc (this one) will half half the ram still of my new one My last few PC have doubled ram each time, maybe I stop soon.

I got curious and opened it up. It seems there is a ASUS V7700 TI with 64 whole megabytes of memory in there, which is a 24 year old graphics card.

Edit: Finally remembered what I meant to say, so had to come back and edit. I'm not too terribly broad shouldered and it's pretty surprising to me how well I can contort my body. That said, I'm tall and I constantly find myself banging my head on stuff, including doorways in older homes.

I just told my wife the other day she needs to move her footbath she hangs up high on the wall. "It's out of the way?" she says and then I show her how it pretty much contacts the exact middle of my forehead when I get out of the shower...

I'm a notorious clutz, so this i something I'm going to have to be mindful of..I could 100% see myself falling through the ceiling.

You can pick-up HDMI to VGA cables or Adapters all day on Amazon, they work pretty well. I've used them to connect old CRT's to my modern systems.

Also sounds like you're ready to build yourself a Windows 98 gaming PC!

My old laptop has been languishing on eBay for over a month now. Apparently, 2tb in a Ultrabook isn't the selling point I thought it was, but this has actually worked out pretty ok. The other day I reinstalled the 512Gb drive into it and reposted it at a lower price with better pictures. Now I've cloned my 1Tb out of my big desktop rig and threw the 2Tb into that; had the idea when I noticed Abiotic Factor was slow to load new areas in since it was on my old spinning disk.

I find it slightly amusing to have stuck a tiny little 2230 into a big desktop that is supposed to take a drive that's 2/3 bigger.

Apparently going from a HDMI graphics card to a VGA screen is not the same as going from a HDMI screen to a VGA graphics card, so I'll need to make sure I get the right adapter. Though I might check our second hand store and see if they have a VGA monitor for a couple of bucks instead.

I actually have no clue what Windows system is on there now. If I had to guess it's Windows XP.

I'm not sure if I'll actually use this for anything, but it does have a DVD drive, so that's something.

I would still like to get a PC that can play games that are a little more recent, without spending a lot of money on it. I'm hoping I'll have some time tomorrow to look through my options, both new and second-hand.
