Just wrapped up several hours in the BF6 open beta (Weekend 2), and wow—Empire State is chaotic fun. First thing I did was rush the bridge with C4, dropped it on enemy heads, and netted a 10-kill streak before I even cared about dying. That’s Battlefield energy right there.
The new map is infantry-focused, and while there aren’t vehicles yet, the verticality and destructible environments keep every fight dynamic. Blowing holes in walls, collapsing bridges, and watching enemies scramble never gets old. The Ghostbusters-style firehouse made me laugh—nice touch of nostalgia.
Rush mode is back too, though matchmaking is clunky. The custom search is more like a preference than a guarantee, and I’m still hoping DICE gives us a proper server browser. Playing Rush on Empire State reminded me of Bad Company 2—tight chokepoints, frantic defenses, and some truly cinematic destruction.
Performance has been solid on my rig, though DLSS is missing at the moment. The M4 feels strong (maybe too strong), and the knife speed boost is borderline mandatory for objective play. I’m curious to see if weapon balance shifts before launch.
One concern: skins. Right now, everyone looks like a cohesive unit, and it feels immersive. Once the flashy cosmetics roll out, I hope there’s an option to toggle “default skins only.” That would preserve the grounded military vibe that’s working so well.
Overall, the beta has me hyped. BF6 still has rough edges, but when it clicks—C4 bridges, chaotic firefights, collapsing buildings—it feels like Battlefield at its best. If you haven’t yet, jump in this weekend.
