Anyone using age of mythology retold

I have used all other versions of AOM but am struggling with this one.
Before jumping into a rated battle i practiced in skirmish and at the start some builders make storage for wood , food and gold without me doing anything. They then construct other buildings without any input from myself.

If i place down the outline of something i want to build myself and click on a builder they move a short distance then go back to what they were doing.

I also noticed that if i move army to attack a village they move a few yards and come back.

I have no idea why these things are happening

Did you accidentally start the game controlling the same faction as another player or bot? I know that was an option in Age of Empires, I'm not sure if it's a thing in this game as well.

I found a post online about a similar issue you're having. This was one of the responses:

"I think you have the "villager prioritisation" turned on,
which makes it so that villagers automatically choose which resource to harvest."

Try seeing if that setting is enabled and turn it off. I played AOM Retold a bit on Game Pass and I don't remember having that same issue.

thanks for replies ... i have villager priority turned off in side menu and settings/game and its almost as if i am watching a video because the builders and gatherers ignore everything i try to get them to do . if i try to move army that come out of a building they make they move a bit and run back to where they were. The devs have asked me to send a video clip.
