Any tips for getting ExoDOS?

I'm looking into ExoDOS to play DOS games. Looks pretty interesting. Now I have a Macbook, so is that not ideal for getting Exodos?

Also, when you have ExoDOS, how is the game quality? Because when I use sites like PlayClassicGames, there are some cool games but the graphics definitely take a bit of a hit. When you set up ExoDOS, are you playing the games offline or just off of the site?

Lastly, what laptop works well for ExoDOS if I have to get a new one? I'm looking for something pretty affordable but at the same time is able to run ExoDOS smoothly. Also, is there ever a time where some games don't work for you on ExoDOS? Or is every game pretty smooth?

I don't think it works in Apple OS.

This guy did get it working on a Mac but only after he installed Windows 11 on it

instructions for it don't help a lot:

When you set up ExoDOS, are you playing the games offline or just off of the site?
You play offline but it may need internet after, depends which version you get:
There are 2 versions of the program,
A full version that is 638gb in size and contains all the games, or
the lite version that is only 5gb - you have to download the games the first time you play them.

I don't actually have it, just going from:

So I can't answer any of the questions.
You really need to find a forum that relates to retro games. I did look for something to suggest.
It strikes me that there is a small demand for Retro machines but I don't know where to look.

being the guy that recommended it, i feel i'm obliged to help. i've honestly never used it muyself, so i have no idea how good it will be. Knowing Dos some gaems will require tweaks etc .

I believe the games are offline. But you need to download them first (if you haven't do so yet).

I'll download some games like tomb raider gold and see if i can get it working on exodos.

Can't see Victor Vector and Yando on the list, so i'll need to have a look at that one.

EDIT: Ok, i've just fired up and played Tomb Raider gold. So far no problems. downloaded it from the built in installer and selected option 1 and it just worked. All in its 30FPS glory. I was playing it in 1080 and it seemed fine.

Wow. I may have to get a new laptop for ExoDOS. Cool that Tomb Raider is playing. Let me know if you can get The Awesome Adventures of Victor Vector and Yando, The Vampire's Coffin.
