Question Do I need a better graphic card or monitor?

My son wants a better gaming monitor for his PC. He currently has an Asus Vg248 monitor. His graphic card is a GeForce RTX 2070 Super. He’d like an Asus Rog Strix XG27UQ monitor. They’re darn expensive and I’m wondering if he’d get the benefit of this monitor with his current graphic card...
