I agree. It's a little risky to transport a desktop of any size - even a small cube of a PC. Desktops aren't designed to withstand a steady dose of knocks, bumps, and drops. They are designed to sit on top of a desk. ;) If you want to travel with a PC then I would suggest a decent gaming...

In addition to all that, could the layout of a laptop be changed? Does the GPU need to be under the keyboard or could it somehow be placed inside the display lid? Would that spread the heat to a new, larger surface that may not require as much fan power? -=- Boris

I've only ever seen fans, pipes, and liquid cooling used for cooling. They're well understood and generally inexpensive ... but, I've always thought they're limited in their effectiveness. There's got to be something better just around the corner. Whatever that better design and method is ought...

Hmm! I've always been a bit hesitant to online backups. Maybe I'm a control freak and just need everything locally in my hands. Restores are faster and don't need online connections, especially after a catastrophic hardware failure.

Another vote for the free version of Macrium Reflect. It has enough enabled features to get the job done.
