Question Torn between 7700 XT and 7800 XT (or perhaps an Nvidia alternative?

I'm currently picking parts for an all new build. I've already selected all the parts, but I'm still in doubt if I should go for the Radeon 7700 XT or 7800 XT.

See the parts I selected here (I already own the monitor): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hwf8Wt
Without the monitor, it comes down to around 1.300 bucks. Which is perfect. But, is the extra 80 to 100 bucks worth it?

I've read good things about both cards and and some say go for the extra bucks and get 7800 XT and others say 7700 XT is fine. I'm already stretching my budget, so I'm inclined to go for the 7700 XT. Where I live (the Netherlands), the 7800XT cost about 80-100 bucks more.

Monitor is 1440p and I mostly play older games like RDR2, Cyberpunk and perhaps Star Citizen in a while.

I should also note that in the last 20 years, every 3 to 5 years I'm upgrading my GPU. So what I buy now, should be good enough for about 3 years. And you know, 148 frames per second is cool, but 113 is also fine. As long as it looks pretty; I'm not playing for the statistics.

I'm currently running a RTX 2060 6Gb, so I guess whichever one I choose, the upgrade will be significant...?

Any recommendations? Or experience with either card? Or perhaps there's a case to be made for an Nvidia alternative I overlooked?

Thanks in advance! All help is appreciated!

i would be careful buying off Ali express for CPU.

if you went from a 2060 to a 7700xt its a 88% increase in power.
If you jump to a 7800xt its 129%
If you went to a 7900 GRE its 152%

the 7700xt isn't a big enough jump to make me look at it, but the other two will make a difference for longer. Its unlikely that 12 to 16gb of vram be a problem for a few years.

I'm currently running a RTX 2060 6Gb, so I guess whichever one I choose, the upgrade will be significant...?
I went from a 2070 Super to a 7900 XT, I did notice a considerable jump. The increase you would get going to a 7800xt from a 2060 is similar to the increase I got upgrading (in percentage points). Its noticeable.

Most people are long term Nvidia users, to point they don't realise there is anyone else.
Most of my 3d cards have been Nvidia since 2005, only had two AMD cards in that entire time.

I had to put the 3d part in as my only 2d GPU was made by ATI but in 1999, so hardly counts.

I wanted to avoid the Nvidia tax this time around. Now with AMD not making high end, not sure about next time.
