If you’re going for 1440p, AM4 motherboards are only slightly cheaper but AM4 CPUs have been dropping in price significantly. For just over $200 USD you can get a Ryzen 5800X which is way capable of 1440p gaming when paired with a good GPU. We’re expecting to see AM4 mobo and CPU prices drop even further as the push for AM5 is getting stronger, but IMO AM5 prices are not worth the entry when you can get kickass AM4 CPUs for cheap. Pair the 5800X with an RX 6700XT, 32GB DDR4 and an M2 SSD and you’ve got a powerful 1440p budget build which could probably done for under $1000 USD, saving you money to buy more games during the Steam Summer Sale 😉

If you can afford it go for it! Make sure to plug it all into PCPartPicker to confirm it’s all compatible with each other. If you have the money I’d also recommend getting 2x 1TB SSDs since they are so cheap these days, you’re losing money by buying the 500GB one.
