Setup for RedM

Hey guys! I’ve logged about 700 hours on RDO so far on PS5, and I would really like to play on some RedM servers. Problem is, all I have is a laptop, which obviously isn’t made to run games that big and lags as soon as I load in. So what is the cheapest way I can get set up for PC gaming to start out with? Idk what I need, and idk that it’s something I’m gonna do forever or really even do more than RedM, as RDO is really all I play. Should I wait until the new steam thing comes out and save up for it? I assume RDO is Red Dead Online?
I assume you just want to run the client of RedM, not the server.

CPU listed is at least 10 years old, GPU about 8.

Correct on Red Dead Online, sorry. Idk what the difference in client and server is, but basically I want to use mods like The Tackroom and The Rift Trails. Can the Steam Deck do that?

Yes. However, you need to make sure that whatever you are doing is doable on Valve's version of Linux. However, it also might be possible, like with their handheld, to actually just install Windows on it, although anyone adequately familiar with Windows would think that would be ruining a perfectly good computer. If that server software is listed on Steam, you could see if it is "Deck Verified" or risk your mental health and ask on their forums.
