Here's a bigger hint: the game started as a console exclusive, but NOT for the Playstation.

Specifically, it started as an XBox exclusive. Turned out to be a bad choice, the XBox was barely able to handle the game. They ported it to PC next, after fixing up quite a bit, and it worked great for years. Then, suddenly, they decided to release an HD(?) version on PlayStation and took it off the Steam store. A few regions can still buy the PC version directly from Square/Enix, but others can't.
