Maybe a little from the outside and the occasional static picture of areas inside your ships, but you don't have the freedom to really examine them. You can't walk around them or anything like that. There's a good beginner's guide to playing the game on Youtube that shows the standard screens you can expect to see. Not really any up-close and personal shots of the ships. You just get the kind of views you might expect from a strategy game.
