Processor killing motherboard??

Can someone tell me if a powerful processor can destroy a motherboard? I am building my first PC and most parts are sorted. The processor is Intel Core i5-13600K and GPU is RTX 3060 12GB. But, when I asked someone to help me assemble the PC, he said that the motherboard (which is btw, Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4) is not capable of the processor. The motherboard cann't handle the throttling processor. Can someone please tell me if I got the wrong processor? He is suggesting to use Core i5 14500 (a non K processor). The main use of the PC is Rendering and Casual Gaming.
Thanks in advance.

That motherboard is perfectly fine with your desired CPU. There are certainly others that have better VRM and heat management features, but as long as you properly cool your CPU and system you'll be fine.

I would not overclock with this motherboard.

I don't have any plans for overclocking. I will only use it for rendering (and for large renders, may also leave it overnight).
