Hi, everyone
I am going to upgrade my PC. My budget is limited as $350. I'm not sure if I should upgrade my CPU or GPU first. My current PC now is

Processor: i5-3570 (Gen 3)
GPU: RX 570
RAM: 16GB DDR3
Motherboard: H61
PSU: Deepcool 500W

I have discovered that i5-10400 and Ryzen 3300x have the same price in my country.

Could you help me to decide what upgrades I need to do?
Please give your advice, thank you !

If you buy i5-10400 or Ryzen 3300x, you'll have to do a complete platform upgrade, including changing your motherboard and RAM. Can you do a complete platform upgrade in $350?

Or you can buy i7 3770 and add an SSD.

Based on US pricing you wont get much of a GPU upgrade out of $350 at the moment. If your upgrading CPU though, you'll have to get DDR4 RAM and a new motherboard.

10400F would work well, and 16GB of DDR4 3200 C16 RAM or faster with a B560 Motherboard.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor ($146.40 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI MAG B560M BAZOOKA Micro ATX LGA1200 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($69.98 @ Amazon)
Total: $336.37
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

If you post the exact model of your PSU we can tell you whether you should replace that when you get a new GPU in a while when prices have calmed down. It would be awful to have your new shiny gear get taken out by an old sub-par PSU, it's happened to a lot of us in the past, thats why enthusiasts tend to go on about it :)

That CPU and motherboard should last a good few years of gaming. If you tell us what country you are in we might be able to find suitable stuff to recommend at your local prices.

Thank you!
I am using DN500 Deepcool PSU. I am in Indonesia. GPU price is also high here right now. I have discovered that i5-10400F doesn't support 3200 RAM but i5-11400F does. Is it correct?

It is said that i5-10400f is limited to DDR4-2666 RAM. Is there another reason why you recommend the 3200MHz RAM. Can it be overclocked to use 3200 MHz RAM? Thank you

When it comes time to upgrade your GPU, or even before you should seriously consider picking up a better quality PSU. I understand being on a budget but a bad PSU will end up costing you much more over time.

Yours isnt a doorstop but its not great either, if it's a couple of years old it might be getting even riskier.
