New PC Build - Feedback Requested/Appreciated!

Hey All,

Been rocking the same build for the past 6 years. I am planning to build a new system with the goal being better gaming/system performance, higher FPS, etc . Looking for feedback on this build. I think I am pretty close on the final part list, but wanted to get feedback from the community to see if there were any areas I am missing, compatibility issues, areas where I could get more value etc. (For reference I have included my current build at the bottom).

Approximate Purchase Date: 1-3 months
Budget Range: ~$3500
System Usage: Gaming (COD, WZ, Battlefield, FPS)
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Flexible
Location: Georgia, USA
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: Not planning on it
Your Monitor Resolution: Currently running 4K at 60FPS. I will be keeping my 4K monitors, but plan to add an Alienware AW2721D 27.0" 2560x1440 240 Hz Monitor specifically for gaming.
Additional Comments: My current system has a NVIDIA RTX 3070 GPU which I plan to transfer to the new system.

…as far as I know Intel is releasing new CPUs quite soon, so maybe wait to see if they're more than hype.

Memory:

You have that in twice, typo? 32GB is more than enough for years, 64GB a waste.

Thanks for the reply Brian. Intel is "supposed" to release info on their new CPUs at the end of this month, so good idea to wait and see what they release.

In terms of RAM, why is 64gb a waste? I am at 32 GB right now and routinely use most of it.

That's different, I assumed you were only using your PC for gaming.

One additional question is how important is the PCI-E 4? Am I missing a lot by getting a CPU that does not support it?

For gaming as of today you wont notice a difference in load times. I'm not sure about the future as I don't know exactly how Direct Storage will use NVME drives in a few years, whether gen 3 drives will be compatible or how much faster 4 would be than 3 in real life use if they are both compatible.I'm also not sure on how much PCI-E 4.0 will affect your non gaming applications.

FWIW SATA SSD's operate at speeds around a quarter of PCI-E 3.0 NVME drives but in real life this doesnt translate to much difference in load times.

Another couple of questions for the group:

1) Intel says the 10850k only supports dual-channel DDR4-2933 RAM.
a) Would I be limited to only 2 sticks of RAM (even though the MB supports 4)?
b) Is it still ok to run 3200 or 3600 rated RAM?

You aren't limited to 2 sticks of RAM and 3200mhz is ideal for Intel 10/11 gen cpu's.
